Objections Made To Malaika’s Anarkali Disco Chali Song
Malaika Arora’s hit item track Anarkali Disco Chali might land Housefull 2 in a legal soup. An NGO has voiced their objection on the lyrics of the song. According to them, it’s misinterpretation of history and could have a negative impact on children.
The Maharasthtra wing of the NGO, Bharatiya Bhrashtachar Nivaran Sanstha, has opposed the song on the grounds that the song’s lyrics spread disinformation and is distorting history.
The president of the NGO tells a daily that in the Maharashtra School Board curriculum, there are lessons on Saleem, who is the son of Mughal emperor Akbar. “After listening to the song, children would wonder why Saleem stayed in a gali (passage) or why Anarkali went to a disco,” says the President of the NGO.
The NGO is also quite irked with the producer Sajid Nadiadwala. They question if he (producer) knows about the importance of Saleem. As per them, it’s the producer of the film, who should be held responsible, and not the actors who are shown dancing in the song. The NGO has decided to file a case against the producer, but before that they are going to send the legal notice to him.
All they want is the change of lyrics; otherwise they would request the court to stop the release of the film. The NGO is upbeat that they can’t allow people to “misrepresent” the past.
Housefull 2 is releasing on April 6. Source
