Urmila Matondkar Embraces The Ramp

Bollywood’s forgotten diva Urmila Matondkar, who has not been seen in films for a long time, made an appearance — but not in front of the camera. She sashayed down the ramp for designer Nisha Sagar at the ongoing Amby Valley India Bridal Week (AVIBW).

Wearing a colourful, heavily-studded lehenga and corset, the actress walked down the ramp, joined by actor Govinda’s daughter Narmada, who flaunted a blue and green, flowy chiffon dress with crystals. ‘The kind of clothes I have designed this time I think Urmila and Narmada fitted the palette and the cuts very well. So they were a very good choice,’ Sagar told IANS.

Urmila, who has done hit films like ‘Rangeela’, ‘Judaai’, ‘Satya’ and ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’, didn’t interact with the media after the show.

Sagar’s collection, which was in association with the Gitanjali group, was a melange of bright and vibrant hues – royal blue, emerald green, lime green with a subtle hint of pink and orange. The embroidery was detailed with gold work and Swarovski stones. More

Bollywood Sexy Divas With Manish Malhotra

Celebrity designer Manish Malhotra’s shows are known for their heavy dose of Bollywood presence and it was not surprising that A-list actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukjerji and Priety Zinta dazzled in the guest gallery at his offering at the Lakme Fashion Week.

The show, which was sponsored by Aircel to promote its Save The Tiger Initiative, was attended by most of Malhotra’s close friends and Bollywood actress including Urmila Matondkar, Sonakshi Sinha, Sameera Reddy and Sangeeta Bijlani.

The girl gang occupied front row and visibly enjoyed the show as they were seen giggling, clapping and cheering while the models sashayed down the ramp showcasing Malhotra’s designs, which were all contemporary evening wear.

“For me, my clothes are my life and I wake up to it. ‘Save the Tiger’ is also a great cause to support and I’m happy that I collaborated with them,” Malhotra told reporters after the show. More

Bollywood Celebrating Holi In Its own Style

As already reported bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan stayed away from Holi celebrations and so did others for various reasons. A sneak peek at how the Bollywood stars spent the day.

Amitabh Bachchan: ‘Nothing! We’re celebrating no Holi this year. Yes, I know our home is an open house on Holi every year. Hopefully we’ll be back to celebrating Holi next year. ‘This year too many tragic events have happened around us. On a personal level, my father’s passing away then my mother’s prolonged illness have suspended Holi celebrations in my house. And then, of course, the things that are happening in Mumbai city and the country. Do you think anyone is in the mood for celebration? We’re not. Maybe next year.’

Preity Zinta: ‘What am I doing for Holi? Nothing. Sleeping the whole day. Recovering from my jet lag after my trip to New Zealand. In any case, I think Holi has lost its original spirit long back.’

Deepika Padukone: ‘I’ll have the day off. I’ll celebrate with my family and close friends.’

Farhan Akhtar: ‘For the time in living memory I won’t be home for Holi. I’ll be shooting abroad. It breaks my heart to miss Holi. Can’t be helped.’

Bipasha Basu: ‘I’ve no Holi plans. I’m allergic to the abeer and other Holi colours. I’ll spend Holi with my family, devouring Holi delicacies. It’s a diet-free day for me.’

Abhishek Bachchan: ‘I’ll be shooting. No Holi this year at home. Just work.’

Genelia D’Souza: ‘I’ll be shooting In Delhi on Holi.’

Hurman S. Baweja: ‘I’ll be shooting in Delhi for ‘It’s My Life’. I think my lightmen, camera crew, director and co-stars will be my Holi victims. Watch out, here I come.’

Himesh Reshammiya: ‘As always I prefer to work on auspicious days. I’ll be recording a new song for ‘Ishq Unplugged’ on Holi.’

Urmila Matondkar: ‘I’m not much of a Holi person. I’ll be chilling at home watching some good movies and hoping no one gets rowdy with women who have to step out of their homes.’

Celina Jaitley: ‘This Holi I’m in Hyderabad. I’ll be spending it with the cast and crew.’

Tusshar Kapoor: ‘I’ll be meeting up with my friends for lunch and not playing Holi, since I stopped doing that long ago.’ Source

Urmila Matondakar Declines A Yash Raj Film

urmila.jpgUrmila Matondakar who is going through a pretty lean patch in her professional life, has declined a good opportunity to save her fading career. Apparently the actress was approached by Yash Raj Films for one of their forthcoming films. But being choosy about her roles, Urmila declined the offer.

According to the unit hand from the film Hidaba that stars Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles, Urmila was offered a role which was second fiddle to the main actress Rani Mukherjee. Apparently after going through the narration Urmila realized the length and importance of the character was not enough. She asked to make it more meaty and increase the length of it as well as she did not want to be relegated to the side lines of a character artist. Nor was the fact that she would be playing second lead to Rani who is much junior to her. Keeping those in mind, the Rangeela actress preferred to step aside. Source
