Actress Priyanka Chopra paid a heartwarming and thrilling tribute to veteran actress Rekha at the 13th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards Saturday by dancing to some of her popular songs.

Priyanka’s performance came ahead of the special honour conferred to Rekha for outstanding achievement in Indian cinema at the ceremony.

She started off with a remixed version of In aakhon ki masti ke from Umrao Jaan and went on to groove to songs such as Salaam-e-Ishq meri jaan, Pyar do pyaar lo and Pardesiya.

However, her performance rose to a different level when she was joined by Rekha herself. Posing like Dharmendra, Priyanka was seen getting naughty with the veteran actress while performing to Rafta rafta.

After receiving the special award, Rekha, known for films such as Khoobsurat and Silsila, said “I would like to dedicate this award to my producers who have inspired me and the young actors of our industry like Ranbir Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Priyanka Chopra, who are super talented. I am proud that I continue to be a part of film fraternity.” Source

Actor Rekha is officially a member of parliament now. She took her oath today as a member of the Rajya Sabha -she had been nominated by the government along with cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and entrepreneur-activist Anu Aga.

Wearing a golden-brown sari, Rekha, who is 57, was surrounded by other MPs when she arrived in the Rajya Sabha.

They thumped their desks in approval when her name was called to take the oath. Chairman of the House Hamid Ansari said “Welcome”as she walked up to him and greeted him with folded hands.

“I Rekha Ganeshan” she said, swearing in the name of God in her brief oath in English.

After signing the members’ register, she greeted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley and other leaders before walking to her allotted seat, No. 99. More

President of India, Pratibha Patil, has approved the nomination of renowned actor Rekha and Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar to the Rajya Sabha.

Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar will now play the new role of a parliamentarian with President Pratibha Patil Thursday approving his nomination to the Rajya Sabha, along with that of renowned actor Rekha and businesswoman Anu Aga.

“The president has approved the nomination of Sachin Tendulkar, Rekha and Anu Aga to the Rajya Sabha,” Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson Archana Datta told.

The nomination of the three eminent personalities was approved by the president under rules that allow the nomination of 12 members to the upper house. More

The evergreen beauty Rekha, who has been quietly penning down the memories of the last fifty glorious years, is now intending to make a film about the same. According to reports, the diva, who was till now reportedly writing an autobiography, is now contemplating a full fledged film on her memorable life.

“Yes, I have been picking up the pieces of my life from the memories of the past. I have been carefully going back in time to identify every person who has shaped my life and made me realise that I am a product of love. The most important person, of course, is my mother, who couldn`t have given me more love. I want to share the experiences of my life and want to thank all those people who made me who I am today. What I am doing cannot be expressed in such few words. I want to express my gratitude with visuals as well as with words. Though I feel no words are enough to describe the people who have influenced and shaped my life, yet I will take a shot at it.” said the diva.

Though not much has been divulged about the same but the movie can be anticipated as a revelation of sorts, thanks to controversial life the former leading lady has led. “I am working towards making a formal announcement on the project very soon.
