After her defeat in the Indian Premier League pretty Preity is all set to make her Bollywood comeback with Deepa Mehta’s upcoming movie ‘Heaven On Earth’. Zinta, of course, plays the female lead in the film, but surprisingly, the film’s hero is no macho man, he is not handsome, and he doesn’t even flaunt the much-wanted ‘six pack abs’. Director Deepa has cast a ‘snake’ opposite Preity Zinta, as the film’s ‘hero’.
In ‘Heaven on Earth’, Preity plays ‘Chand’, an innocent girl who is harassed by her in- laws after she marries a Canadian NRI, ‘Rocky’. And guess what? It’s the snake which lives in their backyard, comes to her rescue, and gets the actress saved from her abusive in-laws and husband!
If sources are to be believed, “Initially, when Preity read the script, she was very excited about her character, but when the shoot began, it became hard for the actress to get deep into the skin of the character.” Preity, however, managed to remain very calm and brave, and the actress is indeed trying to give it her best shot, as always. Preity Zinta says she invested in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in spite of warnings from a friend astrologer .
‘In spite of the warning from my astrologer friend, I went for the deal as I had a gut feeling that it is the future. I told my friend that if it doesn’t work for me then I would become the 50th wife of the Sultan of Brunei,’ Preity, who co-owns the IPL Mohali team,says. The star of hits like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, Preity said it was only in a developing country like India that one could think of buying a sports team.
‘The scenario is going to change after 10 years. One can never dream of buying a team like Manchester United or Arsenal today in a country like England.’ Preity bought Kings XI Punjab in partnership with her boyfriend Ness Wadia and Karan Paul of Apeejay Surrendra Group and Mohit Burman of Dabur. They paid $76 million for the franchise.
She said: ‘My team performed well and I am happy with all the team members and will continue my support for the team.’ As far as her balance sheet was concerned, she said this had not been a profitable year but was optimistic they would do better next time. Source

“The first time I met Dina Wadia I stared at her open-mouthed. My goodness! She carries so much history within her. Since then we’ve met over dinner and other social occasions several times. Each time I’m struck by her gentle demeanour , her classic elegance, and yes, her fragility.”says Preity. While speaking about one of her favourite women, Preity’s voice lights up. She continues, “She’s so beautiful, so fragile. I was also struck by her unmistakable facial resemblance to her distinguished father (Jinnah). They look like father and daughter all right! I’ve never seen two people who resemble one another so closely.”
Preity says she has met Dina Wadia both in Mumbai and abroad. “She lives in New York. But she visits Mumbai where she has close family. The last time when they met Dina Wadia wanted to know about Preity’s IPL matches. “She has so much to tell. And I just want to sit and keep on listening to her.
She takes a lot of interest in my life. The last time we met she wanted to know all about the IPL matches. I was surprised, why would someone of her stature want to know what I’m doing? She’s so important to our times as a woman and a figure in history and yet conveys so much joie de vivre in her attitude.” Source

“It is a fact that the show is a Bachchan family show as there are three of them. I am friends with them and have enjoyed working with Amitji and Abhishek. Aishwarya is a friend,” Preity told reporters in Mumbai.

After adding colour to the Holi Special of the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati on March 1, actress Preity Zinta donated the money she won on the show to the Shimla District Red Cross Society.
She donated a sum of Rs 25 lakh, ADM Ajay Sharma said on Sunday.
Knowing for keeping a firm stand when being on the right side of things, Preity Zinta has been chosen as a brand ambassador for bravery awards sponsored by Godfrey Philips, the Indian subsidiary of Philip Morris.
To promote the awards, Preity Zinta has shot for a commercial that emphasizes on standing up when the chips are down and being brave in the face of adversities.
Incidentally, Preity herself has been a recipient of this award a few years back when she was recognized for sticking to her testimony about the link between Bollywood and organized crime.
As per reports, her steady testimony was all the more praiseworthy because other witnesses had withdrawn their earlier statements. Zinta claimed to have received threatening calls from the underworld while she was shooting for the film ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’ in 2000.
