The actress herself ascribes her dress sense to the company she keeps. “I think that it’s the result of hanging out with international designers,” she recently wrote.

While many Bollywood actresses have essayed the role of the icchadhari nagin, none have got quite as much publicity for it. However, Mallika says that Sridevi’s portrayal of the role is her favourite. “Comparisons are odious. Yet, Sridevi is in a league of her own. There can be no comparisons,” she says.

“She is currently in Los Angeles and she plans to do a photo shoot conceptualized and (to be) shot by ace photographer Richard Avedon this week. The concepts of both the shoots are similar, as in they involved a snake and an actress.” sources confirmed. 

The photo session will take place at Studio 838, owned by fashion photographer Ash Gupta. Period!” he exclaimed, whilst entertaining her on his Fashion’s Night Out event.

Attending the BCBG Max Azria show at the Fashion Week in a tight body-hugging black tube dress, Mallika confirmed that Max would be designing for her in future and has asked her to become the Indian face of his collection – possibly even walking the ramp for him at the Paris Fashion Show. “It will be an honour for me to represent such a talented designer who has dressed all the top Hollywood stars,” she said, “Regarding walking the ramp for him, it’s still a work in progress.”

Mallika’s latest obsession, however, is the social networking site Twitter in which she’s actively posting updates on her day-to-day life in the US.

After being away for months in the US – where she’s been moving in elite circles and having the milkshakes named after her – Mallika flew down to Karnataka to be part of a special religious ceremony at Shri Ramachandrapur mutt in Gokarna. There, she took blessings from none other than the mutt’s present pontiff, Sri Sri Ragaveshwara Bharathi Swami, who, interestingly, called Mallika “a pure soul”.

The actress, besides offering her prayers, broke ground for the building of a special Hanuman temple near a cave, where Lord Hanuman is believed to have been born. The mutt plans to build a massive, 15-storey high temple devoted to Hanuman. Reports say Mallika took part in special, elaborate pujas for which priests were summoned from as far as Kerala and Mangalore.

She would be attending this weekend’s Fangoria Conference at the LA Convention Center to talk about her new film Hisss. Sherawat was also spotted attending an elite luncheon hosted by the Mayor of the City of LA.

Mallika Sherawat is moving into the nightspots of Hollywood hoping to make a name for herself. Meanwhile, the producers of her film ‘Hiss’, directed by Jennifer Lynch, and also starring Irrfan Khan and Divya Dutta, hope to show the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival and are looking for a distribution deal in the US. “Hisss could’ve been like any other snakewomen story,” says Irrfan, “But the way Jennifer has treated the story has taken the film to another level. The special effects will shock our audiences!”

Meanwhile, Mallika is working on Fauj Mein Mauj, a comedy about a woman who joins an all-male army regiment. The film also stars Paresh Rawal and Lillette Dubey. In addition, there’s Unveiled, another Hollywood movie. This one is about an identity theft that goes horribly wrong; and then her third Hollywood movie in quick succession will be The Aquarian Gospel which seeks to tell the story of Jesus’ missing years.
