Bollywood beauty Gul Panag just returned to Mumbai from Toronto, and she used this trip to learn a bit about the custom rules at the Mumbai International Airport. After all many actresses such as Bipasha Basu, Anushka Sharma, Minissha Lamba have been detained at the airport in the recent past for non-declaration of goods!
Well, Gul has returned to Mumbai wilth some information… The lady was shocked to find that a ‘polite custom official’ at the Mumbai airport asked her if she had anything to declare. When Gul said no, he didn’t even check her bag, and this left the actress wondering… She wrote on her micr-blogging site: When I asked the custom officer why he didn’t scan my bag,he said ( after last “high profile” cases) people are expected to self declare.
So chat with MIA Customs Officer confirmed what I thought:- bags are scanned randomly & unless tipped off or ‘profiled’ – like world-over (sic). More

Gul Panag and her film Straight is the hot topic right now. Here’s what Gul has to say :
Clear this air about Straight being a film about homosexuality.
Straight is a film about a homophobic guy. Pinu Patel is homophobic just like the bulk of the Indian population. In this society you are a conformist and sexuality is one small part of it. To conform would be to be heterosexual and the non conformists are to be the homosexual. It’s all a matter of choice. We’ve always looked down upon these whether it’s in sexuality, thought or any opinion. By and large, we are a homophobic society. Pinu suddenly figures that there is a possibility that he could just be a gay. Now imagine the trauma of Pinu, a man who hates people who are gays.
Gul Panag, Do you think homosexuality should be legalized ?
On whether homosexuality should be legalised or not, I’ve always maintained that sexuality is a very private matter. Neither a society nor a state has any right to interfere in this matter. They shouldn’t even comment on a matter like this, I believe. Tomorrow we’ll have a state saying that on Monday we should wear pink underwear, on Tuesday you wear a green one. They will tell us what way to brush our teeth too. All this is too personal. You shouldn’t judge anybody on sexual orientation. I hope I’ve answered your question. More

Despite of having critically acclaimed roles in her purse, Gul Panag doesn’t look at her professional life in that way.
All set to think positive, the beau believes that work cannot come her way walking all the way from the director’s desk. “I cannot sit home and expect work to walk to my door step.
It is possible that there is a great role out there and probably the director hasn’t thought of me. So I have no problem approaching directors and auditioning for roles, ” explains the diva.
But it’s not the end of her positive approach towards her profession. She thinks that she should not think about what kind of roles she is offered with as it’s a matter of her job and directors should think of it better.
“I am open to doing anything. I am an actor. It’s an actor’s duty to do as the script demands, ” Gul opens her heart. Besides, she is not afraid of going to any extent for her character. Thats quite bold. Source
