Riteish & Genelia Pair Together For A Romantic Comedy

News is that Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza have been signed on as a pair in a romantic-comedy, to be produced by Tips’ Kumar Taurani. The untitled project will be directed by debutant Mandeep Kumar who earlier did a Punjabi film with Taurani.

For Riteish and Genelia, this will be their third movie together – first was their debut 2003 film ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ and second, the 2004 film ‘Masti’.

The two garnered attention for being a couple, then going on and off the relationship. Riteish and Genelia even went in open to say that they are just good friends. And it is surprising that the two actors are back on the media radar with this new venture. More

John & Genelia’s Marriage Was Interrupted

John Abraham and beauty doll Genelia D’souza took realism to new heights when the duo were shooting a wedding sequence at Malshej Ghat for their upcoming release ‘Force.’

Apparently, John and Genelia, who will be seen together for the first time in Vipul Shah’s ‘Force’, almost got married to each other on the sets of the film. The actors were in a wedding sequence and were stopped almost before completing the saat pheras.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “We were shooting in Malshej Ghat and there was this old temple where we had got a local maharaj for the wedding sequence. Unfortunately the pandit has never witnessed a wedding and did not understand the concept of ‘cut’ and ‘action’ while shooting. It was a multi-camera set-up and so we needed to have minimum shots. However whenever Nishikant Kamath would say cut, the pandit would not stop. Finally after the sixth phera someone from the unit realized that the mantras were real and if not stopped John and Genelia would be actually married. So, they were stopped before the final round.” Source

Genelia To Host A Television Show ‘Big Switch’

Genelia D’Souza is all set to reach a bigger audience through TV. But it wasn’t a calculated move, she says. “I didn’t plan any of the things that have happened to me. Whether it’s acting, modelling or this TV show I’ll be hosting, it’s my fans who’ve decided for me,” says Genelia. “I’m doing two films with the production house that owns the channel which will air the show, Big Switch. I share a great rapport with them. They liked my work and attitude and asked me to host the programme,” she tells us.

And TV isn’t just for out-of-work Bollywood actors, she maintains. “I don’t think it’s a back-door entry to the limelight. Television is the best way to reach out to a lot of people,” she says, adding, “I’ve always lived by my own fundas. When I started my film career down south, people told me it was a place for Bollywood drop-outs. But I’ve proved them wrong and made a place for myself there.” So, does this mean that Genelia is in the same league as Salman Khan and Farah Khan, who are now hosting TV shows? “Oh, no! They’re great. I’ll be glad if I get anywhere close to them,” she replies.

Meanwhile, the actress has several releases slotted for this year. Apart from Hook Ya Crook and Chance Pe Dance, she also has a Telugu film ready for release. But not all her Bollywood flicks have done as well as her southern films. Is she making the wrong choices? “I need some time to get it right. It wasn’t all that easy for me even in the south. But I made it and I’m confident I’ll make it here as well,” asserts Genelia. Source

Genelia D’Souza – The Birthday Girl Is Here

She was a State level athlete and a National level Football player, one may even wonder if this is the secret behind her wafer thin structure. Hailing form the Mangalorean Catholic community Geenu is known to us all as a girl of sugar and spice. Can you guess who the vibrant beauty is?

The sweet beauty who we were referring to is none other than our own Genelia D’Souza! Although she made her debut in Filmdom with ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ she chose to be out of Bollywood for a while to concentrate on South Indian films. Though she was well set with South movies she never stopped trying her hand in Bollywood. She gave ‘Masti’ and ‘Mere Baap Pehle Aap’ which were met with moderate success. Her final breakthrough in Bollywood was through the blockbuster, ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ in which her role has been widely admired for the sweetness, freshness, and new style of acting.

This chirpy girl who first hit the lime-light with a Parker Pen commercial with Amitabh Bachchan is now the brand ambassador of the new Fanta and Perk.

We at Bollywood.ac feel glad to wish this hot and cute property a Very Happy Birthday! Source

Genelia D’Souza Wanting To Work With The “KHANS”

Genelia D’Souza hasn’t had another release as yet after Jaane Tu…, and she is seen more in TV commercials than promos for forthcoming films with big banners.

“What’s the definition of a big banner,” she asks. “I have worked with UTV, Studio 18, Aamir Khan Productions, done films in the South, and I have four releases this year. There’s one opposite Fardeen Khan, It’s My Life opposite Hurman Baweja, Hook Ya Crook with John Abraham and Yahoo with Shahid Kapoor. Isn’t that a lot?”

But, yes, she agrees, that you come into your own in Bollywood only when you act with the Khans. And that kind of film is eluding her currently. “Like every young girl, I too would like to work with the Khans, but each film has a script and only a suitable actor can play that role,” she admits. Asin & Genelia – The Beverage Fight Of Orange

The two South actresses are standing opposite each other. Asin has been endorsing Mirinda for the last three years, while Genelia has become Fanta brand ambassador from this year.

Tamilnadu alone accounts for 25 percent of the total orange soft drink market in the country. The rivalry between PepsiCo and Coca Cola India for the South Orange market has been bitter, and much juice has flowed in the campaign.

Last three years the market leader in the orange category was clearly PepsiCo India’s Mirinda, thanks to Asin, while Simran and later Trisha gave stiff competition with Coca Cola India’s Fanta.

This summer, Fanta has decided to take Mirinda head on by signing up Genelia, the new youth icon in Bollywood who has a huge fan base in south. More

Genelia D’ Souza Says – “John Abraham Is So Hot”

Genelia D’Souza is indeed lucky. And why not she has three comedy flicks lined up for the summer campaign alongside some of the leading hunks in Bollywood. The first of these is cricketing caper Hook Ya Crook with John Abraham. “John is so hot,” she says, “I would love to see him taking his shirt off again. I’ve always liked him since the time he came to our fete long ago.” The David Dhawan movie also stars Amrita Rao, Kay Kay Menon and Shreyas Talpade.

Second on the agenda is Harman Baweja’s It’s My Life. Directed by Anees Bazmee, it’s a remake of Genelia’s Telugu superhit Bommarillu, a romantic melodrama that in the original starred Siddharth in Harman’s role. Siddharth and Genelia received rapturous reviews for the subtlety of their performances and it will be interesting to see if the Bollywood remake can live up to that.

The third movie on Genelia’s list that should firmly entrench her in the top echelon of Bollywood stars is Life Partner. Rumi Jaffrey’s film also stars Fardeen Khan, Govinda and Prachi Desai. Genelia exudes a sweetness and exuberance in her screen persona that has often seen her offered similar roles. Is this a worry to her? “I`m an actor who should perform whenever I get the opportunity,” she replies, “So if I`m getting roles that see me as a college going girl who is independent and youthful, I don’t mind that at all.” Source

Bollywood Celebrating Holi In Its own Style

As already reported bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan stayed away from Holi celebrations and so did others for various reasons. A sneak peek at how the Bollywood stars spent the day.

Amitabh Bachchan: ‘Nothing! We’re celebrating no Holi this year. Yes, I know our home is an open house on Holi every year. Hopefully we’ll be back to celebrating Holi next year. ‘This year too many tragic events have happened around us. On a personal level, my father’s passing away then my mother’s prolonged illness have suspended Holi celebrations in my house. And then, of course, the things that are happening in Mumbai city and the country. Do you think anyone is in the mood for celebration? We’re not. Maybe next year.’

Preity Zinta: ‘What am I doing for Holi? Nothing. Sleeping the whole day. Recovering from my jet lag after my trip to New Zealand. In any case, I think Holi has lost its original spirit long back.’

Deepika Padukone: ‘I’ll have the day off. I’ll celebrate with my family and close friends.’

Farhan Akhtar: ‘For the time in living memory I won’t be home for Holi. I’ll be shooting abroad. It breaks my heart to miss Holi. Can’t be helped.’

Bipasha Basu: ‘I’ve no Holi plans. I’m allergic to the abeer and other Holi colours. I’ll spend Holi with my family, devouring Holi delicacies. It’s a diet-free day for me.’

Abhishek Bachchan: ‘I’ll be shooting. No Holi this year at home. Just work.’

Genelia D’Souza: ‘I’ll be shooting In Delhi on Holi.’

Hurman S. Baweja: ‘I’ll be shooting in Delhi for ‘It’s My Life’. I think my lightmen, camera crew, director and co-stars will be my Holi victims. Watch out, here I come.’

Himesh Reshammiya: ‘As always I prefer to work on auspicious days. I’ll be recording a new song for ‘Ishq Unplugged’ on Holi.’

Urmila Matondkar: ‘I’m not much of a Holi person. I’ll be chilling at home watching some good movies and hoping no one gets rowdy with women who have to step out of their homes.’

Celina Jaitley: ‘This Holi I’m in Hyderabad. I’ll be spending it with the cast and crew.’

Tusshar Kapoor: ‘I’ll be meeting up with my friends for lunch and not playing Holi, since I stopped doing that long ago.’ Source
