For Dia Mirza it wasn’t so smooth and rosy who thought it to be a pretty frustrating experience sometimes, you know with all the boy-talk and all that. “I used to scream sometimes… Boys can talk a lot, and can be super distracting. They were always discussing the matches, or then car racing, and I used to constantly tell them to shut up and ask them to concentrate on their dialogues,” said Dia, “But I’ve worked with most of them before, and love them all!”
Now Mirza better get used to ‘match talks’, especially since a lot of our Bollywood ladies — like Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty — can do some ‘ball talk’ too these days… we of course mean, cricket, fellas! After all it’s the marriage of B-wood to C-world (read: cricket world). So it may just help knowing the ABC of such things, right Dia ? Source
Bollywood runs on “herd mentality”, acknowledging only the successful films of actors and not their talent, says actress and former beauty queen Diya Mirza.
Missing from the big screen since her cameo in the box office dud Krazzy 4, Diya hopes that her off-beat film Bits and Pieces opposite Rahul Bose is released soon.
She attributes her absence to the failure of her films and the industry’s “biased” attitude towards her.
“It was important for me to back off from films. I started my career on a good note with big banners, good producers and good actors, but the films didn’t do too well. We live in an industry (Bollywood) that runs on a herd mentality.
It functions only on the number of successful films you have, not your talent,” Diya said
Diya won the Miss Asia Pacific beauty pageant in 2000 and forayed into Bollywood in 2001 with Gautham Menon’s Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein opposite R. Madhavan. Full News
Before the creative juices seep in your creative minds, let us clarify that giving ‘birth’ to crocodiles is a very easy task at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Bangkok.
Dia Mirza visited the Sriracha Tiger Zoo during the croc egg-breaking festival during the IIFA weekend in Bangkok. An ecstatic Dia said that holding a baby crocodile in her palms was indeed a strange experience in itself as there were scores of crocodile eggs, most of them already cracked. Along with the caretaker, Dia had to get the baby crocodile out of the shell, cut the umbilical cord, and then bathe it in warm water!
But this process was not as easy as much as it sounds. Dia said that firstly the eggs were all sticky and full of goo. Then the baby croc that popped out was all smeared in blood! And when someone asked Dia if she would undergo the ‘delivery process’ once again, she quickly replied that helping in giving birth to one croc was more than enough for her.
So can we say that Dia has turned mother of a croc baby. What say ? Source
Diya Mirza ia another very sweet girl our industry has introduced to us in the past. Dia who made her debut with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein opposite Madhavan is now all set to plays a girl locked up in a factory with four men with apparently no way out, in Suparn Verma’s Acid Factory. She’s being made to do the most impossible stunts. But Diya doesn’t mind.
Diya is the only woman in the entire script. “What I enjoy is being one of the boys. I’m doing everything that the boys are being made to do. And that includes all the stunts.
After playing dainty utterly feminine roles I’m enjoying being put on a harness dangling from ropes, jumping from heights, kicking and punching. In spite of my dainty image I’ve always been a tomboy. My character is bad through and through. No apologies. No justification. She just enjoys being bad. I like bringing that dark side of me out on screen because there’s way I can tap into it in real life.” More
