Deepika Padukone, who is in a rumoured relationship with Siddharth Mallya, turned down the marriage proposal of one of her craziest fans.

Varun Raj, a 21-year-old rich brat from Dehradun, will feature on the upcoming episode of UTV Stars’ ‘Live My Life’. He claimed that if he proposed to Deepika, there was no way she could refuse.

Deepika Padukone might be starring in ‘Aarakshan’ (Reservation), a film based on India’s notorious caste system, but she has revealed that she had no idea about the issue before starring in it.

Directed by acclaimed director Prakash Jha, the movie tackles the sensitive subject of the reservation of seats and jobs based on people’s caste.

“For many Indians, the reservation issue is a hard-hitting reality. But honestly, I didn’t feel for the issue strongly, because I have never really experienced it in my own life,” Gulf News quoted her as saying.

Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone will appear as special guests on the fifth season of the game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati”, which starts off on August 15 with megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the host.

Promos of AARAKSHAN pretty much promise a hard hitting dramatic affair in the offing. Also there is a trademark Prakash Jha stamp to the frames that promise a film that should succeed in entertaining its audience. Quiz Deepika Padukone, leading lady of the film, on whether the promise would be met and she nods affirmatively.

In the film AARAKSHAN, though Deepika Padukone would be getting into a different zone with Saif, she is more curious than anxious to know how her pairing would look like this time around.

“When you have worked with someone earlier, it obviously leads to a certain amount of comfort level from the very beginning,” says Deepika who has just stepped back into Mumbai after spending months in London shooting for two of her films, “That initial awkwardness goes away because there is a sense of familiarity that sets in. Having said that it wasn’t like we were catching up on the lost times or anything. Our interaction was primarily about the work that we were doing together and that’s about it. So yes, we were both doing our own thing. He is the way he is and is great that way.” More

Deepika Padukone wanted a song like ‘Mora Piya’ from the film ‘Rajneeti’ to be picturised on her — just like the way it was picturised on actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Before the film’s shooting, Deepika requested via sms to Prakash Jha to feature a love ballad on her, with a happy face smiley at the end. And her wish was granted.

When asked about the request, Deepika said, “I remember how ‘Mora piya’ was such a rage. I remember messaging him (Prakash Jha) to please give me a good romantic song in his new film because Prakashji has a really good sense of music. I was really looking forward to shooting this song and it’s turned out amazing. Till now, Mora piya was always played on loop on my mp3 player wherever I was travelling. But now its ‘Seedhe point pe aaona’, which is such a playful and cute romantic song.” More

with Imtiaz Ali for casting Deepika and not her opposite boyfriend Saif in Love Aaj Kal. In fact, it is also rumoured that later Kareena ousted Deepika to star in Saif’s Agent Vinod.

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is usually seen in glamorous roles like in Housefull and Break Ke Baad, argues that it is a misconception such roles do not involve serious acting.

“It’s a misconception that glamourous roles don’t involve the actor to act. This is not true because in the West you have Julia Roberts doing really glamorous roles and you still notice her performance and notice how great she looks,” Deepika told reporters in Mumbai.

Local authorities have demolished a major set in Bhopal where patchwork scenes for the film `Aarakshan` between actors Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan were scheduled to be shot later this month.

The demolition was ordered by the District Magistrate`soffice. The set that has been demolished included an entire bungalow that belongs to the character played by Amitabh Bachhan in the film and parts of the tabela, where informal schools were set up in the film. This particular set was spread over an acre and a half of land.

Prakash Jha Productions had taken the land on lease from Minal Residency Group, not realising that it was disputed property.

From end-January till end of March shooting had taken place on the constructed set.

“We had no idea that the land where we had constructed the set was disputed. But I do feel that even though the demolition had to go through, the authorities knew we had constructed only temporary structures for the purpose of shooting. Why demolish it? It would have been dismantled within a month. Everyone in Bhopal knew it was a set,” Prakash Jha said. More
