Anushka Sharma’s Role In Band Baaja Baraat

She played a simple girl next door in RAB NE BANA DI JODI. Then she got into an altogether different zone by becoming Ms. Smart in BADMAASH COMPANY. Now in her upcoming release BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, she has completely transformed her personality by turning into someone who is just not polished enough to make a style statement.

“That’s right, I couldn’t have afforded to be a proper girl here”, she smiles, “She is just not polished enough and the way she speaks English is also not proper. She is so ‘alhad’ that she didn’t even hold back chewing or coughing while she was talking. This character is someone who didn’t care about the way she walked, looked or behaved.”

Due to the Delhi setting of the film, there is a certain dialogue delivery which one can see is pretty much standing out in this Yash Raj production. One can well believe that Anushka must have prepared for that considering the fact that contrary to popular perception, she is neither a Delhi girl nor a Punjabi in real life

“Thank you so much of pointing this out, otherwise I would have been forever tagged as a Punjabi”, laughs Anushka, “See, I was lucky that both the director as well as the writer are from Delhi. There is a lot of Delhi in the script and I had to learn the gestures and the dialogues. I had to learn to speak in a particular way. I had to cut out the pauses and go on and on. There is an altogether different manner in which people speak in Bangalore (from where she comes), Mumbai (where she works now) and Delhi (where the film is set). I had to study those nuances well and deliver.” Source

Anushka Sharma On Her Forthcoming Films

Even as Anushka Sharma is gearing up for her YRF production Band Baaja Baaraat, which releases this Friday, 10th December, rumours are being floated of her association with Eros entertainments Desi Boyz. Directed by David Dhawan’s elder son Rohit, Desi Boyz shooting had begun in Mumbai in early November. Starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Anupam Kher and Chitrangda Singh, Desi Boyz is a romantic comedy slated for a mid-2011 release.

During pre-production of the film earlier this year, Anushka’s name as one of the leading ladies was brought up on multiple occasions. When the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi star was asked to confirm the project, she didn’t provide a clear clarification, saying that she didn’t speak about her films till officially signed. These rumours cleared away by the final announcement and subsequent shoot commencement in November.

However, recently the buzz started doing rounds once again. But this time when probed about it, the actress denied the rumors and confirmed that she is not a part of the film.

“No I am not starring in Desi Boyz and I don’t want to comment on anything further,” stated the actress. After Band Baaja Baarat, Anushka’s next release will be Patiala House in February 2011 co-starring Akshay Kumar. Source

Anushka Sharma’s Chemistry With The Chopras

All set for a hat trick of hits with her upcoming film BAND BAAJA BAARAAT (carrying a very positive response), Anushka Sharma is certainly overjoyed, elated and extremely confident. Her first two films, RAB NE BANA DI JODI and BADMAASH COMPANY, for Yash Raj Films have been successful (more so RAB NE.. which is a blockbuster and BADMAASH COMPANY a hit) and trade is pretty confident that Anushka will weave her magic with BAND BAAJA BAARAAT as well.

There was news that Anushka’s three film contract with Yash Raj Films which she had signed has now ended and so she is free to sign new films. Rubbishing the reports Anushka says that that there was no contract whatsoever and clarifies that she had signed Nikhil Advani’s PATIALA HOUSE even before BAND BAAJA BAARAAT.

She however accepted that it was a mutual agreement that she would do three film with Yash Raj but no one stopped her from signing films with any outside banner. She also added that if Yash Raj Films and Aditya feel that her presence is required in any movie she would be glad to be a part of even ten more films as she owes everything to them.

Certainly it’s heartening to see such attitude, especially from youngsters, which shows that loyalty and gratitude still exists in Bollwyood, after all we have seen so many examples when big stars deserted their mentors after success. Source

Anushka Sharma’s Hottest Film Is Yet To Come

We all know that she was the simple and rather somber girl in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, but Anushka Sharma’s compensating for it in full measure by turning on the heat with her revealing attire in ‘Badmaash Company.’

Close insiders, however, squeal that the Yash Raj Films flick is but a precursor to what follows next.

Reportedly, Anushka has flashed plenty of skin and has gone all out to revv up her sensuality quotient for Nikhil Advani’s ‘Patiala House.’

A close source insists that ‘Patiala House’ is her “hottest film”, as yet.

Badmaash Company – An Average At The Box Office

Karan (Shahid Kapoor) is clear that he doesn’t want to spend his life as a worker drone like his dad. Karan dreams of getting rich quick. He starts out as a carrier for a small-time smuggler and eventually moves his way up to bigger con jobs and bigger bucks. Three friends Bulbul (Anushka), Zing (Meiyang Chang) and Chandu (Vir Das) join him on this stratospheric journey, which ends in self-destructive decadence, avarice, fighting, break-up, regret and various life lessons learnt with most important one being honesty is the best policy.

While the first half still holds together (despite boring and slowly shot con jobs) because of the bonding between the four friends. Problems crop up majorly in the second half which makes the movie a complete downer. What makes it more unexciting is the fact that after moving to Manhattan the characters attempt to repeat the exact same scheme that they had done in India making it all a predictably tedious watch. Karan’s legal but totally outlandish scheme involving a line of defective shirts called the Bleeding Madras appears completely foolish.

Actor turned director Parmeet Sethi of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge fame could have come up with a better script. Thought at heart it appears well intended, it offers nothing new apart from a few oft repeated moral lessons. The casino shot sequences remind you of Kevin Spacey starrer 21. More

Shahid Kapoor & Anushka Sharma – Steaming Up

The latest buzz of bollywood Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma were thought to be dating. But what everyone witnessed in an interview session with ZOOM, will clearly put the rumours to rest forever. The two were seen having a verbal spat live on TV! Fact or promotional fiction…remains to be verified!

The weather was hot enough as it is, but the mood was hotter as Shahid and Anushka – along with co-stars Vir Das and Chang – came to do a promotional interview for Yashraj’s next Badmaash Company. Everything was fine until ZOOM anchor Nandini Vaid began asking the crew about how it was for such a diverse cast to work together. Established stars with newcomers. At that, Shahid replied that these young actors are relatively new and take a while to get into the groove. Oh…! You mean you were never a new comer? Strange!

It led to all the other three taking offense and reacting angrily. But Shahid went on stating that he felt Vir Das was a miscast for the film (Ow…ow….! Like you were a miscast in 36 China Town or Chup Chup ke?). It led Anushka to jump to Vir’s defense saying that he didn’t cast them, so how can he say that. It upset Shahid greatly and he retorted by saying that why is she jumping in? It’s between him and Vir. Anushka immediately snapped, “Shut Up Shahid!”  It is really weird to think that a guy who boasts of his humble beginnings even after being a part of the industry since birth, Shahid Kapoor would say things like that for newcomers. Guess…too much of success spoils the humility here! Source

Anushka Sharma Smooches Shahid Kapoor

Anushka Sharma did smooch Shahid for three times in Parmeet Sethi’s flick under YRF but is not elated about it. Who cares? A source said that the kisses are not the brush-of-the-lips type. They are full-on smooches. Reportedly, Anushka shared great chemistry with Shahid when they were shooting for this film in the States. They had gelled very well and seemed to be enjoying each other’s company very much. And nobody blames YRF or Parmeet Sethi if they decided on the three smooches because they wanted to exploit that chemistry and have it translated on screen as well.

As if we didn’t have any thundering chemistries on screen without the kissing plots! But Anushka was not comfortable. Parmeet had to do a lot of cajoling. Finally, he managed to convince her. It’s not easy to be smooch-candid! Isn’t it Anushka? How did Shahid take the whole kisses episode? A source revealed that he had no problem at all. As expected! Source

Anushka Sharma Is Too Busy To Take Her Awards

The gorgeous beauty Anushka Sharma has been so busy travelling on outdoor schedules for Parmeet Sethi’s directorial debut to the States and Thailand that she has had little time for anything else. Recently, she completed one year in the industry and it seemed almost commemorative when she received an award for best debutante for her role in the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. What made the award even more special was the fact that she was up against debutantes from across the country and not just Bollywood.

Unfortunately, Anushka could not even be present at the award function as it happened to coincide with the last day of shooting for Parmeet’s film which was being shot out of Mumbai. Said the actress, “I missed out on being present for the Mahurat of Patiala House and the award function which happened to be on the same day and got to know of my win only later that night while I was driving back.” The actress can now look to breathe easy as she will now be shooting in the country for the next few months and hopes not to miss out on anything else. Anushka Sharma’s Newly Purchased Home

The debutant actress of ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’    Anushka Sharma can’t stop gushing about the three-bedroom apartment at Andheri’s Yari Road that she bought recently. While she bought it about a month ago and even moved there, she couldn’t spend too much time at home, because of her having to travel to the US for 40 days for her shooting.

Anushka, who shifted to Mumbai from Bangalore about two years ago, had been living at the army colony in Malad. She had been looking for a house for quite a while and finally settled on this one. This being the first ever house she has bought, she’s naturally very excited about it.

She feels great about being able to buy a house at the age of 21. But she hardly gets to be home and hasn’t had the time to enjoy it yet as she had to go to Bangkok for a month, just a little after her US tour, and is still there. Source

Anushka Sharma Says : I Can Go Zipping Across Mumbai On A Bike” !

Even after her debut opposite Shahrukh Khan, life has’nt changed much for Anushka Sharma. That’s because she was determined from the start not to let her Bollywood status go to the head.  There is much similarity between her and Deepika Padukone. Both girls are far too tall for Bollywood’s leading pack of actors (well, the Khans actually, give or take an Akshay, Hrithik, John and Abhishek), and both have ramp model-to-silver screen backgrounds, not to mention debuts opposite SRK. “I don’t compete keeping someone else in sight,” said Anuskha who is getting ready for her next film (opposite Shahid Kapoor, this time). “I give my best shot and leave the rest to God. I meditate and have a connection to my spiritual side. That has an extremely calming effect on me.”

She’s doing several endorsements as well, with the catwalk remaining a fascination at the back of her mind always. “I walked the Mumbai Fashion Week ramp thrice including once for Wendell Rodricks’s finale. I really love the ramp. I would be happy to sashay down it anyday,” revealed Anushka. “People think I’m serious, I know I’m supposed to enjoy and flaunt that go-for-it attitude, but I really am a happy, shiny person. I have complete control of my emotions, thoughts and reality. Adi Chopra said that I have this beautiful aspect in my personality of staying grounded. I’ve been fiercely protective about it since then.” More

Shahid Kapoor & Anushka Sharma – Something Is Cooking

Anushka Sharma who made her debut opposite Shah Rukh in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will now be seen in her second film with Yash Raj, this time with Shahid Kapoor.  Our source revealed, “Anushka and Shahid will be paired opposite each other in a Yash Raj film which is to be directed by actor Parmeet Sethi. Parmeet has also roped in stand-up comedian Veer Das and Indian Idol contestant and host Meiyang Chang as lead actors of the film.” He further added, “The film is not a romantic comedy but a story revolving around four people and how they evolve in life.”

We called up Parmeet but he refused to comment saying, “It’s true that I am planning to make this film but I will speak in depth when I get a go-ahead from the production house (Yash Raj).” More

Anushka Sharma & Shahid Kapur In Yash Chopra’s Next

Yashraj banner is famous for encouraging new talents. After introducing Anushka in the runaway hit Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the production house is reported to be making another film with her in female lead. And Shahid, who’s already working in the banner’s ‘Hadippa’ (tentatively titled) with Rani Mukherjee , is set to be Anushka’s hero.

According to sources, Parmeet Sethi has written the script which Aditya Chopra liked instantly and decided to back the project. Well, Parmeet’s association with the YRF has been since he acted in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge . It’s heard that Parmeet has also signed a contract with YRF for three films.

The film is believed to be a romantically themed family drama set in Punjab. It is reported that Adi recommended Anushka’s name to Parmeet for the film. And Shahid reportedly gave nod to the project once he heard the narration and his character sketch.

As for now, Yashraj Films is waiting for their year’s first release New York, starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh. Source
