Ranbir With Dad Rishi At The IIFA Awards 2012

Father-son duo Rishi and Ranbir Kapoor set the stage on fire in Singapore Saturday at the 13th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards by performing together for the first time.

Ranbir made an electrifying entry with a guitar in his hand and performed Saada haq from his hit film Rockstar. He later donned a tapori avatar and grooved to Tai tai phish from Chillar Party.

Though Ranbir is known for his impeccable dancing style, it was his father Rishi who stole the limelight on the stage.

Rishi entered the stage saying his famous Karz dialogue — “Kya tumne kabhi kisi se pyaar kiya” — and soon the audience joined him in completing it saying….”kiyaa…”, before he kick-started his act.

Ranbir was seen matching steps with his father on the song Paisa yeh paisa from the Rishi’s hit film Karz. More

‘Barfee’ Director Anurag Basu Is Upset With Ranbir Kapoor’s Old Age Look

Ranbir Kapoor’s old man act for a TV commercial has apparently disappointed the Barfee director Anurag Basu. Reports say that Ranbir’s old look was actually a surprise element in his upcoming movie Barfee, that remains no more a secret to the world after the actor’s TV ad.

Basu confirmed a leading daily that he was shocked after he first caught Ranbir’s old getup in the TV ad which is almost identical to that of his old-age look in Barfi. A source informed the leading daily that the makers of the film had taken great pain to keep the actor’s surprise look under wraps, but all went to vain finally.

It is believed that the cellular company copied Ranbir’s look from his Blackberry phone as he had kept it as his display picture for some time. Though the filmmaker was initially angry with the entire goof–up, he later melted down. Source

Paresh Rawal Sees A Star In Ranbir Kapoor

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has proved time and again that he is one of the finest actors in the industry and any kind of praise from such a stalwart is enough to make any actor’s day. Recently, during an interview, when asked about which young actor would make it big in the future, Rawal named Ranbir Kapoor without any hesitation.

Rawal reportedly praised Ranbir for staying away from signing up for immature roles and claimed that even in a multi-starrer film like Raajneeti, the Kapoor prince was superlative and that ‘all the other guys looked pale compared to him’. “Ranbir Kapoor is terrific. He is the future,” Rawal was quoted to have said. More

Ranbir Kapoor Sidelined Shahrukh Khan Completely

Looks like Ranbir Kapoor is snatching much more than just best actor awards from SRK this year! ROCKSTAR Ranbir has won most of the best actor awards this season, over King Khan who was also nominated in the same category for DON 2. It was found out that SRK has been replaced by the versatile Ranbir Kapoor in the much-talked about project, TWO STATES, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

The film, which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller of same title, will be co-produced by Karan Johar. Earlier, it was supposed to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj who wanted Shahrukh to take on the lead role, but due to some reason Vishal put the movie on hold and Karan stepped in, to complete the project with Nadiawala.

While Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed the news exclusively on Zoom, Karan Johar still wants to keep it under wraps, could there be something more to it? Source

Shahid Kapoor To Participate In Ranbir Kapoor’s World Tour

They aren’t the best of friends, as reported by a section of the press. But that isn’t stopping Ranbir Kapoor from making a special request to Shahid to join his world tour in August. This comes in the wake of the news of both of them bonding big time in Macau at an awards event recently.

Shahid had earlier opted out of the world tour after the director of his next film fell ill that resulted in the shoot being postponed. Rishi Kapoor who is also the producer of the tour confirms Shahid’s inclusion.

He says, “Shahid and my son have become good friends. He is likely to join us. The rest of the details are still being finalised.”

We had earlier reported about how Shahid had helped Ranbir overcome his nervousness before his first stage performance at the event (Hitlist, January 25, 2012). That’s when they really bonded with each other. And this was when Kapoor Junior realized that Shahid was very important for his world tour. More

Top Five Films Of Bollywood in 2011

5) Don 2

Panned by many critics, this film makes it to the list for not only being the first genuinely slick action flick of Bollywood, but also because it brought  back memories of a Shahrukh Khan we didn’t despise. Don 2, despite its slow pacing and rather humdrum plot, worked rather gloriously because the Don himself got to deliver some fun punchlines; wear masks of actors far more good looking than him and romance the girl with the sexiest pout in Asia, Priyanka Chopra. Looking back at the year, this is the only mega hit of 2011 that was actually fun to sit through.

4) Stanley Ka Dabba

This film should be much higher up, if only it wasn’t for the lack of its mainstream elements. Yet, this is a small-scale, simple and spectacular film that works as effectively in providing a refreshing twist to the poor state of children’s cinema in India as it does in tugging at the heartstrings without trying too hard. The Partho kid is rather neat, but his father, director Amole Gupte (the writer of Taare Zameen Par) is the one who takes the cake here. A must-see!

3) Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

This film is in our list because this is, by far, the best looking flick of the year, a tour-guide to Spain that unimpressively breezed through much frivolity and mush before taking off the covers and showing us a heart and a soul. This was mainstream, commercial cinema that had something to say — and while the underlying theme was rather stale — the packaging was pretty damn great. Katrina rode a bike all the way through Barcelona only to give a man a kiss, Hrithik Roshan stood opposite her to complete the fantastic looking pair and Farhan Akhtar rose above the role to truly give a heartfelt performance.

2) The Dirty Picture

First banned and then unbanned in Pakistan, this gutsy film is perhaps the most unforgettable feature film of the year. The rigorously censored version in Pakistani theatres should be given a miss. This one is to be seen at home, late at night when kids and parents have been put to sleep. Revolving around a vulgar little South Indian item girl, The Dirty Picture is far braver an achievement than Delhi Belly — another push-the-envelope feature — simply because it uses a female to forward the theme. And what a female she is! Vidya Balan — a genuine actor revelling in her onscreen glory with such remarkable glee — is the one reason why this film is so high up on this list. Trendsetting stuff!

1) Rockstar

Take a bow, ladies and gentlemen. In a year when Aamir was absent, Hrithik was sleepy, Shahrukh and Salman were busy baking blockbuster recipes; one guy stood up and showed them all who the real daddy of performance is. Ranbir Kapoor and this realistic story of music, love and pain are not stuff that Bollywood is used to. Kapoor is a superstar and a spectacular actor who knows how to pull off both sides of him at the same time.
