Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap not only wanted to get his film Gangs of Wasseypur 2 released in Dhanbad where the story is based, he was also hoping to premiere it there. However, the cops of Dhanbad have put paid to his dream. Forget a premiere, the film will not even be releasing in Dhanbad.
But we hear words of wisdom from the director. Anurag said, “Yes the film was all set to be premiered and release in Dhanbad, Wassseypur this time, but due to some sensitive issues police has not yet permitted for Wasseypur 2 to be released in Dhanbad. This has in a way set me off because it was my dream to have a premiere of Part 2 in Wasseypur.”
More than all, Nawazzuddin, whose hometown is Wasseypur wanted to make sure that the film this time releases in Dhanbad, Wasseypur as well. But unfortunately this film will have to stay out of Dhanbad Wasseypur again. This will be a disappointment for the residents of Wasseypur too, since they were the ones who demanded for part 2 in Dhanbad this time, after the success of part 2 became so big.

If media reports are to be believed then the second part of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is going to be more gripping than the first part. After ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, Anurag Kashyap has probably become the most recognised face of the Indian cinema in the foreign markets. The film received critical as well as commercial success.
Anurag Kashyap’s trigger-happy Gangs are back. Wild, wild Wasseypur is buzzing once again with the swish of daggers, the din of gunshots and the curved conversations of violent men perpetually on the edge of sanity.
In years to come, Gangs of Wasseypur will, for all intents and purposes, be critically assessed as a single film. It has been split into two only by the exigencies of the movie exhibition business.
But for the moment, the question is inevitable: does Gangs Of Wasseypur II take off seamlessly enough from where the first part of the blood-splattered vengeance saga ended?
It certainly does, but by no stretch of the imagination is this anything like reviewing the same film. Gangs Of Wasseypur II is as distinct from Gangs Of Wasseypur as today’s Wasseypur must be from the nondescript but dangerous boondocks that the first part dealt with.
Those who love a good political mud-slinger, this one could seduce your grey cells too. Every bullet that leaves the barrel has a consequence that has been measured and anticipated. No one can be trusted, everyone has an ulterior motive and the larger picture cannot be painted without joining all the dots. Makes no sense? Well, this means that you cannot let your mind wander in the screen and need to take in everything with one squint eye (like ACP Pradhyuman from CID).
