The makers of DON 2 start a full-fledged campaign to popularize Don’s persona with witty one liners titled ‘DON SAYS’

This is the first in a series of a complete 360 ° marketing idea for the promotion of DON 2. These ideas are coming straight from the makers of films such as of DIL CHAHTA HAI, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA, ROCK ON, DON etc – by none other than Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, who have always marketed their films creatively.

Ritesh and Farhan have come up with an idea to popularise ‘DON SAYS’. ‘Don Says’ includes a series of 11 witty tongue-in-cheek quotes by the Don himself, which will be released every Friday starting from 14th October right till the release of the film which is on 23rd December 2011. These quotes will be simultaneously released across all mediums including television, print, radio, Internet and also the mobile platform and mobile apps. More

Political parties have always approached film personalities to encash on their popularity. The latest is that actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has since joined the advisory panel of the Trinamool Congress’ youth wing to give suggestions on cultural activities.

Farhan however clarified that he is not involved in any political activity of the party. He tweeted, “The Media has reported that I have joined the Trinamool Congress Youth Wing. The truth is that I have been asked to be a member on an advisory board for cultural activities, in my capacity as an actor/filmmaker. This is in my understanding, to be an apolitical board. I hope this will clear my stand on this decision once and for all.”

The advisory board has been set up by West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress that has formed a youth wing to be led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee. More

Zoya Akhtar’s “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, a story of the adventurous road trip in Spain of three friends, is spinning magic at the box office – grossing Rs 108 crore in 10 days.

Released by Eros International, the film starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif has earned Rs.86 crore at the domestic box office (net collection Rs.60 crore) and Rs.22 crore overseas. Zoya Akhtar’s road trip film, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD), has given the box office and the audience a reason to smile.

ZNMD’s net collection on the first day was about Rs 7.5 crore and approximately Rs 9 to Rs 9.25 crore on the second.

Even though Harry Potter initially sped ahead of Zoya Akhtar’s film in the early shows, the Hrithik Roshan-Farhan Akhtar-Abhay Deol starrer quickly caught up. Yet, apprehensions about it slowing down in the coming days do exist. “I don’t know whether it will be able to sustain for too long,” adds Nahta, while trade analyst Taran Adarsh reveals, “It is not selling so much in single screens, but on the strength of the multiplexes, the youth has taken to the film in a big way. Multi talented Farhan Akhtar has thanked his lyricist dad, Javed Akhtar, for writing some impeccable dialogues laced with poetry for the just released Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) in which he plays one of the protagonists.

“It’s so fantastic that everyone loves the poems in ZNMD. Thank you pa @Javedakhtarjadu for injecting soul into the film with your gifted hand,” Farhan wroted on his Twitter page.

Looking fresh and all excited to take the road trip; they were there on time. With luggage that arrived earlier. With car loaded with food, water, books, ipods; they were all ready to head to their first destination, Surat.

Kalki, who has not been well, was not traveling with team to Delhi was there to flag off the journey.

Hrithik Roshan, who was extremely excitement said, “I have never ever done road trip and this is the first time I would be on a road trip in India. To see India in rains and to travel by road is quite exciting. ” More

As a part of the unique promotional strategy designed by director Zoya Akhtar and her team, they will make a road trip from Mumbai to Delhi and halt in between too.

The trip starts from Bandra, Mumbai on July 7, with stopovers at Surat, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Udaipur and finally to end the journey in Gurgaon, on July 10. Our source said, “They will possibly drive 1500 kms on their own.

Once in Delhi, the star-cast will perform at a live concert in Gurgaon. This is the first time that such a different marketing strategy has been planned to promote a film.” More

Farhan’s DIL CHAHTA HAI was released exactly ten years back on 24th July and we plan to have a screening exactly on the same day. The festival will celebrate directors whose debuts or second films have been path-breaking. Among the confirmed names are Aparna Sen’s 36 CHOWRINGHEE LANE and Kundan Shah’s JAANE BHI DO YAARO. The festival will be held at Cinemax, NCPA, Edward cinema and some other places.” More

Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif jazzed it up with song and dance at a concert to promote their upcoming film. Hrithik was a man on a mission as he performed before the huge crowd with a variety of dance steps as his other co-stars from the film joined in.

Abhay Deol performed a step imitating Dharmendra’s dancing style while Farhan Akhtar got Hrithik to do his famous moves from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Katrina in a Spanish skirt and co-ordinated blouse performed some ‘senorita’ steps that had fans screaming for more. Kalki Koechlin was in the centre of things but performed half-heartedly.

Ritesh Sidhwani and Zoya Akhtar who were onstage were introduced to the crowd as well. Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonca  provided the musical accompaniment as the stars joined in the singing. Source
