Rohit Shetty-directed laugh riot ‘Golmaal 3′ has hit the jackpot this Diwali by earning Rs.70 crore worldwide in its initial weekend. Produced by Shri Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd and distributed by Eros International, the third instalment in the ‘Golmaal’ franchise triumphed at the box office with a gross collection of Rs.60 crore in India and Rs.10 crore overseas, in its first three days of screening. The movie opened across 2,000 plus screens worldwide.

”Golmaal 3′ opened at 80-90 percent occupancy across the country. Moreover, the long Diwali weekend helped draw in large footfalls in theatres,’ Nandu Ahuja, senior vice president, distribution, Eros International, said in a statement.

Says the actor, “Sanjay and me are great friends. And after our bonding in films like MUNNABHAI, we have cemented on a different tangent. I really miss working with Baba. At the same time I am aware that there are many filmmakers who are smitten by the casting combination of us and would like to feature us together. But, honestly I surely miss working with Baba.”

Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi & Vidya Balan starrer ‘Ishqiya’ grosses over Rs. 14 crore domestic in just three days. Produced by Shemaroo Entertainment, Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures, India Theatrical and distributed by Boney Kapoor’s BSK Network and Entertainment Private Limited, ‘Ishqiya’, has grossed over Rs. 14 crore at the domestic box office in the first weekend of its release.

In just three days, the gross box office collections of the film in India have crossed Rs. 15 Crore on 522 screens. Friday morning shows opened with 40-60 percent in key areas like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune , Bangalore and evening settled down to 65-70 percent with average occupancy cultivating first day gross box office of Rs. 3.85 crore, with glowing reviews ranging from 3-4 star ratings and strong word-of-mouth from audience Saturday showed an impressive jump of 25-30 percent and settle down to Rs. 5 Crore, Sunday showed further jump of 30 percent compare to Friday and 8-10 percent compare to Saturday, garnered further Rs. 5.40 crore cultivating to cumulative an astounding opening weekend collection of more than Rs. 14 Crore gross box office. The circuit of Bollywood Arshad Warsi is upset because he lost a chance to share screen space with Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan in Teen Patti. “I was looking forward to working with Mr. Bachchan again after Zamaanat. But it’s not destined to be, at least not right now,” said Arshad.

He had to opt out of their only film together because of the date problems.

“I’ve no choice but to leave Teen Patti. I was looking forward to it because it was with Amit ji, and also because it was my first film with a female director. But my dates for Teen Patti are now clashing with my own production, that I will start in July.

“If it was just one more assignment, I’d have happily swapped it with Teen Patti. But I am turning producer and it’s a big leap for my career. I’ve all the pre-production in place. And any delay would be fatal for my plans as a producer.” More

Within hours of the release of his latest flick Ek Se Bure Do, Arshad Warsi has apologised to his fans for “subjecting” them to the film. “I ask for forgiveness from the bottom of my heart. I am sorry that you had to be subjected to Ek Se Bure Do,” said Arshad Warsi. The film also stars Rajpal Yadav and has been brought to life from cold storage. A five-year-old project, the film saw a patchy release with zero promotion to back it up.

“I know, it’s a ghost from my past. It was a mistake though I promise that this film should mark an end to all my pending releases. It should be a new beginning from 2009 onwards,” said Arshad who is looking forward to the arrival of Shortkut – The Con Is On, Ishqian and his home production Kaun Bola.

Tell Arshad that Ek Se Bure Do has been a complete waste of time and money, and he is willing to take it. “First and foremost, let me salute you that you actually dared to watch the film. Not many people would have been as brave. But then pray for me as well! You are talking about those Rs 300 that you would have spent on the movie ticket and popcorn? Well, God bless you! Meri toh lakhon ki izzat chali gayi iss film se! (I lost reputation worth lakhs with this film).” More

Sanjay Dutt & Arshad Warsi are coming together again in a non-Munnabhai film entitled Johnny Johnny Yes Papa.

Interestingly Johnny Johnny will be directed by Rohit Shetty who has done the two Gol Maal films and Sunday with Ajay Devgan and has now shifted the hero-giri’s gear to Sanjay Dutt.But Shetty’s comic bent is far from spent.

Dutt’s company’s CEO Dharam Oberoi says, “Johnny Johnny Yes Papa is a funny idea.The idea of bringing Baba and Arshad together is definitely a dhamaka. As for the next Munnabhai film (Munnabhai Chale Amrika) it’s been shifted to the end of 2008 because Raju Hirani is busy with 3 Idiots”

Incidentally Sanjay Dutt had done a film with the name Johnny in it 30 years ago. It was called Johnny I Love You and it featured him opposite Rati Agnihotri. The two were linked together. Dutt will have no leading lady in Johnny Johhny Yes Papa. Source

Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi have set new standards of comedy in the  Munnabhai series. The endearing Munnabhai-Circuit pair will now be seen together in another film apart from Raj Kumar Hirani’s Munnabhai Chale Amrika. The film will be directed by Rohit Shetty (of Golmaal fame) and is titled Johnny Johnny Yes Papa.

Interestingly, no leading lady will star opposite Sanjay in Johnny Johnny Yes Papa. The film will be a comedy on the lines of the much-loved Munnabhai series the latest of which has been postponed as the film’s director Raj Kumar Hirani is now busy with 3 Idiots.

A source close to Sanjay said, “Having resolved to give up always playing a gangster, Baba (as Sanjay is fondly called) wants to explore the goofy tragic-comic aspect of his personality that the two Munnabhai films tapped so effectively. Saurav Kabra’s EMI too carries the same image forward but into a different territory.

In fact, EMI’s producers Suniel Shetty and Ekta Kapoor are ardent fans of Sanju and they specially designed the character of Sattarbhai in EMI as a tribute to Sanju’s Munnabhai.”  Source
