Arshad Warsi, whose performance in ‘Ishqiya’ won him critical acclaim, says the movie’s sequel is going to be a cult film.

‘Spent New Year’s (eve) chatting with Vishal Bhardwaj and Abhishek Chaubey, looks like ISHQIYA 2 is gonna be a cult movie… different in every sense,’ Arshad posted on his Twitter page.

He is set to play a rustic guy once again. In the first instalment of ‘Ishqiya’, which bagged four national awards, Arshad essayed Babban, a hot-blooded, lustful man, who scoffs at the idea of true romantic love.

Actor Arshad Warsi, who is in capital to shoot for his movie “Hai Rabba”, is finding it difficult to deal with monkeys, but says that this can’t be the reason to stop the filming.

“The monkeys at Sainik Farms seem to like the taste of our film crew, many have been seriously bitten by them,” the 43-year-old posted on Twitter.

“The shoot continues, monkey attack or no monkey attack…guess their just checking who is a stronger monkey… We’ll win, hands down,” he further added. Source

Khan, one of Bollywood’s most critically acclaimed actors, will replace an ageing Sanjay Dutt who has played the character in the first two films of the much-loved series, media reports said.

Rubbishing all rumours about the third franchise of the Munnabhai series being stalled, a source while talking to a daily said, “Hirani has been working on the Munnabhai script with his writer Abhijat Joshi in the US and they will soon declare the film. They are planning to go ahead with the film in February next year with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi while the leading ladies are still to be decided.”

Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, who are part of two franchises already, MUNNABHAI and DHAMAAL, would now be seen in a dramatic thriller titled ZILLA GHAZIABAD. This is not all as the film would also feature Vivek Oberoi who earlier locked horns with Sanjay in SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA earlier.

Confirms an industry source, “Yes, the film is happening for sure. It deals with politics and mafia as prevalent in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh). Arshad Warsi is keen on having his Double Dhamaal co-star Kangana Ranaut in the sequel of Ishqiya and is pushing filmmakers to cast her.

An industry insider informs, “He has recommended her name to director Abhishek Chaubey and producer Vishal Bharadwaj and Ketan Maroo because he strongly feels that she suits the role and is a perfect femme fatale.”

Both the actors worked together for the first time in the recently released Double Dhamaal and bonded big time.

Another source adds, “After rom-com Tanu Weds Manu and comedy Double Dhamaal, Kangana’s versatility as an actress has been established. These films have proved the audiences have accepted her. All these factors make her a strong contender for the role.” More

Out and out comedy Double Dhamaal, distributed by Reliance Entertainment and Maruti Pictures has had an impressive opening at the box office, grossing Rs 39.60 crores at the box office in its opening weekend, revealed a statement from the production house.

The film that was released in 1953 screens worldwide on June 24 has been directed by Indra Kumar, produced by Ashok Thakeria and stars Sanjay Dutt, Mallika Sherawat, Kangana Ranaut, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Ashish Chowdhry and Javed Jaferri.

“Double Dhamaal has received an overwhelming response over the weekend and will continue to attract audience in large numbers across the world. The film has already opened in 37 countries and is scheduled to open in non- traditional markets like France, Russia, CIS States, China, Turkey, Greece, Switzerland, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Belarus amongst many others,” said Sanjeev Lamba, CEO, Reliance Entertainment. Everything is fair in love and award functions. Arjun Rampal won the best supporting actor award for his role in Rajneeti at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony. That has not gone down too well with Maria Goretti, wife of actor Arshad Warsi who was also nominated in the same category.

Despite of the low opening of the film Doubble Dhamaal, Arshad Warsi is hopeful that the film will get a good response from the audiences in the coming week. 

Arshad Warsi has also made it clear that he does not enjoy doing films like DHAMAAL and DOUBLE DHAMAAL anymore. According to the actor, he does these films just to please his audiences.

One can’t deny the fact that there are a lot of expectations from DOUBLE DHAMAAL due to it being a franchise. While it is certainly expected that all four principal protagonists (Riteish, Arshad, Javed, Ashish) coordinate well to make the scene look seamless, audience is also looking forward to the film giving ‘double the entertainment’.

“I think now all four of us are pretty much in synch in each other,” says Riteish, “We all have started thinking alike. I don’t think now we would look like four actors just doing our job. We behave pretty much alike and are more like one actor in four different bodies.” More

Arshad Warsi has worked in a couple of movie sequels and finds them risky, but at the same time he is very excited about the second instalment of Ishqiya because he finds the role of a rustic guy challenging. “Finally, it is decided that the sequel of Ishqiya is being made. I’m quite happy about that. Ishqiya is way tougher than Dhamaal or Golmaal because that’s a character that speaks in a different dialect,” Arshad said in an interview.

“It’s completely somebody else. I’ve not played such a character before. So speaking in that language, behaving that way, body language, colour and attitude – everything is very different. So, it’s exciting and a lot of fun,” he said.

The funnyman of Bollywood has slammed the actress on Twitter stating how bogus Katrina’s mango flavoured soft drink ad is. The hottie, who is looking demure, speaks of her passion for the drink in a language laced with sexual connotations.

According to what appears, Arshad is not all impressed by the seductive ad of Katrina Kaif. The actor finds the ad extremely corny. He got so sick of it that he lashed out against Kat on a micro blogging site Twitter.

He writes, “How pakao is Katrina in the ad, kairi pakadti hai aur vo aam ban jata hai… Angoor do toh shayad Wine banjayegi…”.
