Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has bagged another Hollywood project – he is set to share screen space with Clive Owen in Roger Donaldson’s thriller Cities. Anil will be seen playing a cop in the film about greed and ambition that takes place on a global scale in three colliding story lines, according to reports. The first story involves a New York-based hedge fund manager (Owen), who has everything he wants – money, sex and power – but he wants more.
The second story is about a London-based young couple who just want to buy their first home, something that seems impossibly out of reach. And the third story will see the Mumbai cop’s (Anil) fight against corruption between property speculators and his colleagues.
The project will be launched at the upcoming Cannes Film Market and will go on floors in October. It will be shot in New York, London and Mumbai.
Anil rose to international fame with Slumdog Millionaire and has also been a part of US TV series 24. He will also be seen in the fourth instalment of Mission : Impossible franchise Mission : Impossible-Ghost Protocol. Source
She’s renowned for shooting her mouth off and unleashing those vituperative comments on Twitter. If Sonam Kapoor has gained fame as a fashionista, she’s also turned (in) famous for her rash barbs.
Earlier, the actress, together with Deepika Padukone joined forces to take pot shots at her reported ex flame Ranbir Kapoor. Sonny Girl also locked horns with author and columnist Shobhaa De’ degrading her as a “60 something porn writer,” after De’ slammed Sonam declaring that “Sonam just does not cut it in the sex appeal stakes.”
Never mind the attendant criticism that she’s faced, Sonam lashed out in a tabloid quote stating that she really “doesn’t give a damn!”. Reportedly, a fan of hers also came under the famed Sonny fire for criticising her.
Strangely, amid all the hullaballoo over daughter dearest, Anil Kapoor defends Sonam, standing up for her forthrightness. In a media chat, papa Kapoor asserts that he isn’t “angry or embarrassed” over Sonam’s comments. More
The actor who is back from filming Mission Impossible 4 with Tom Cruise got a pleasant surprise when the Holywood star tweeted his thanks over a comment that Anil had made in a recent interview.
Kapoor, who plays an Indian in the action film, praised his famous co-star, saying, “Tom Cruise is very dedicated and hardworking. Some days he slept for just three hours. That is the kind of drive and dedication which makes you so successful. It (Hollywood) is like a Premier League,” he said.
Tom Cruise read the interview and tweeted his thanks in Hindi!
Meanwhile, Cruise is not the only international star on our Bollywood list.
Akshay Kumar also thanked hip hop artist, Ludacris who’s singing a song for his Indo-Canadian venture, Breakaway.
He tweeted: ‘thanks buddy for your call this morning and your compliments about the Breakaway video. Can’t believe you watched it without me.I look forward to seeing it on Dec 17, when I am there…I am sure its a killer viseo..cheers c ya soon.’ Source
The sequel to the hit film NO ENTRY is being planned. Producer Boney Kapoor claims that the first draft of the script is ready.
The film is penned by Anees Bazmee and he will only direct it. The title of the film will be NO ENTRY MEIN ENTRY.
In the sequel, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan will be seen in double roles in order to add to the fun. As far as the female cast is concerned, the makers are yet to take a call on that.
Since NO ENTRY was a roaring hit, let’s hope the sequel is equally interesting. Source
The Indian telecast of the American serial 24 has begun. Finally everybody can see Anil Kapoor in the role of Kamistan President Omar Hassan. Kapoor is anxious to see everyone’s reactions to his performance. “I am always excited, but not nervous. The appreciation I have received internationally has cushioned me.”
Several reports claimed that Dev Patel, also of the Slumdog Millionaire fame, recently called Hollywood racist. But Kapoor doesn’t agree with that. He says that they are the epitome of equality, but he also claims that being cast as the president of a fictional Middle Eastern country modelled on Iran in the TV show 24 did not feel demeaning in anyway. “I have worked all over the world, and I have never seen this kind of equality when it comes to being offered roles. I have never felt like I have been typecast. They treat everyone equally. If you are talented, can draw people, deliver the quality of work and bring in the money, they will accept you even if you are from Timbuktu”, says Kapoor. He feels that Patel’s statement was misconstrued. “I know Dev too well, and he could never have said something like that.” More
Anil Kapoor’s stars are falling in the right place one after the another. After starring in the multiple Oscar winning “Slumdog Millionaire“, Bollywood actor will play an anti-terrorist cop in hit American TV action drama “24″.
Sources reveal that Anil will play an Indian counter-terrorist cop who teams up with Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland in the eighth season of the long-running programme.
“Anil would play Jack Bauer’s counterpart in India. It’s not known yet whether Anil will appear in just one episode of whether he’ll be a recurring character. Either way the producers are very excited about having him onboard,” said a source from the production house. Source
Anil Kapoor has planned a film called ‘Ayesha’ exclusively for his daughter Sonam Kapoor. He has roped in writer Devika Bhagat to write the narrative of ‘Ayesha’, which is based on Jane Austen’s famous novel ‘Emma’. Sonam gets to play desi Emma, one who is young, witty and rich. Devika has earlier penned the story of Bachna Ae Haseeno .
Sonam will be seen in an ultra-mod chic look for portraying Emma, as Anil Kapoor believes that the story of Emma can be told well in contemporary Indian context. The film will be set in a metropolis. Of late, Sonam has been shedding her traditional looks; her recent photo-shoots (especially for Verve) and public appearances say it all.
Abhay Deol has reportedly been finalized to play the male lead, who is Ayesha’s worst critic as well as the one who secretly loves and cares for her. Newcomer Arunodoy Singh is roped in to play an amiable young flirtatious man whom Ayesha adores and pursues. And VJ Cyrus Sahukar will provide the third angle to the story as a guy who wants to marry Ayesha.
Rumour has it that Anil himself is likely to play the role of Ayesha’s father – an amazing character who’s a hypochondriac highly concerned about the health and safety of his loved ones.
The movie is ready to go on floors by April and it’s been reported that shooting will proceed at single stretch. Source
