They may not be as popular as their superstar hubbies but don’t underestimate the powerful first ladies of Bollywood. Other than balancing home, some of them manage to find time to indulge in their passion and convert it into interesting business propositions.

Not just satisfied playing wifey to Hrithik and a doting mom to Hrehaan and Hridhaan, this degree holder in interior design from Brooks College, Long Beach, California, announced her grand project earlier this year: a 14,000 square feet store called The Charcoal Project. On offer are antique furniture, home accessories and artefacts.

She also runs the House of Design and has done up homes of Rani Mukerji and Priyanka Chopra amongst others. Source

Shahid Kapoor has turned down a princely sum of Rs15 crore to dance at a private birthday party in London for steel billionaire Lakshmi Niwas Mittal’s wife Usha.

Says a source, “The Mittals only wanted Shasha as the family is a fan of the Chance Pe Dance star. They offered a whopping amount that Kapoor refused without a moment’s hesitation.”

The offer came through the Morani Brothers Karim and Ali who manage Shasha’s events. They tried their darndest to convince the actor to change his mind.

Says the source, “It’s a known fact that unlike other big stars, Shahid doesn’t dance for private functions. People close to him advised him to treat this as a special case. But he didn’t budge.”

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar recently approached Salman Khan for his next film despite knowing his close friend Shah Rukh Khan’s bitter relationship with the hunk of an actor. Indeed, the last time Salman worked for Dharma Productions’ was way back in year 1998, in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.

It is believed that Salman’s comeback hits ‘Wanted’ and ‘Dabangg’ have changed the equation as the bad boy of Bollywood seems to have become the current favourite of Karan Johar.

Apparently, the ice broke when Karan Johar asked Salman Khan to be a part of ‘Koffee With Karan’. However, Salman agreed to do the show for a price, which would go as a donation to his foundation. While Karan denied paying up for a celebrity on his chat show, he is currently in talks with the actor for a film to be directed by Rensil D’Silva.

Considering KJo’s friendship with Shah Rukh, his sudden shift towards Salman’s could spell doom to his association with SRK. Talking to a daily, a source said, “After ‘Kurbaan’, Rensil is directing a fantasy-action caper on the lines of ‘Ocean’s Eleven’. When Karan Johar heard the script, he absolutely fell in love with it. Both Karan and Rensil felt Salman was perfect for the main part.”

Actor Abhishek Bachchan is riding high on the rave reviews that he has received for his performance as the gritty police officer in Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maaro Dum. Reveals a source, “Paid previews in Hyderabad had 100% occupancy and yesterday Delhi multiplexes were packed…the film is picking up well”.

Rightly adding the “Dum” to the title-Abhishek with his portrayal of a no-nonsense inspector out to sweep Goa clean, re-affirms yet again that he is here-to-stay-in-the-top rung status as an actor. Says acclaimed critic Taran Adarsh, “Abhishek is super in the role of a tough cop whose life undergoes a U-turn when personal tragedy strikes. He projects the varied emotions such as rage, turmoil, helplessness, anxiety without going overboard”.

“I can’t remember the last time my cinemas had enquiries for block bookings that even got confirmed, people forming queues outside to try and get tickets, the police being called in to manage the exited audience for a solo Abhishek Bachchan film! He is back and how! Rohan Sippy and Abhishek Bachchan seem to have cracked a jackpot with this film and the audience is loving it! It seemed like a film targeting the metro cities and the conventional multiplex audience courtesy the soundtrack and promos, but the collection trends tell a different story. More

Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn being seen in diapers for RASCALS may have raised a chuckle or two. However in the film they are much more than playing grown up kids. If sources are to be believed, when the film was being written the mandate was to create scenes that bring back the memories of Amitabh Bachchan-Vinod Khanna combination.

“When it came to the pairing of these superstars, it was like bringing together fire and ice”, says a source attached to the film, “Sanjay Dutt is known for his action hero image and Ajay Devgan has now excelled in being goofy and loveable. David Dhawan, the film’s director, wanted to present Sanju baba and Ajay in a similar manner as Manmohan Desai did with Big B and Vinod Khanna.”
  
The obvious reference points were films like AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY, PARVARISH and (old) HERA PHERI to name a few. Result was a cocktail that resulted in a film which is about two heroes who are constantly playing the game of one-upmanship. More

An aarti scene found Agneepath stars Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra playing with fire quite literally. While Duggu suffered minor burns shooting the scene, PC escaped unscathed but her lehenga caught fire and had to be change.

This is HR’s second accident on the sets of the Karan Johar production. He hurt his hand while breaking a coconut in an earlier scene. His accidents have proved lucky for his films in the past. We wonder if it will bring luck to this one too.

A source recounts what happened: “Hrithik was shooting the Ganapati puja scene. He was holding a big thali with several lit diyas (lamps) and doing the aarti. During one rotation, one diya toppled over, spilling hot oil on his hand, scalding it.

No one was any wiser for it until Duggu rushed to apply ice on the affected area. When the crew understood, the shoot was immediately stopped. It wasn’t a serious injury but Hrithik was in pain. He resumed shooting as soon as his pain subsided. He then joked about his injuries being lucky charms for his films.” More

It can be revealed now. Zayed and Malaika Khan are expecting their second child, come August. They already have a son named Zidane.

ZK confirms, “I am happy to be a father again because it feels very homely and I am very family-oriented. It’s been a wonderful journey of discovery with my son who sometimes acts more like he’s my father than he is my son (laughs).”

Is he expecting a daughter, this time around? “I am looking forward to any kid. It’s another journey.” Source

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan, chirpy Juhi Chawla and her hubby Jai Mehta are all set to develop a cricket stadium in Porbandar, Gujarat.
 
Apparently, the troika has zeroed in on Mahatma Gandhi`s birthplace because Jai`s family has roots there. Interestingly, the owners Kolkata Knight Riders plan to take over the Duleep cricket ground in Porbandar to build a stadium to be named after Jai’s grandfather – Nanji Kalidas Mehta in its place.

Apart from adding strength to Gujarat`s cricket program, it will also provide training camps to KKR.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “The local district cricket association and Mehta Sports Private Limited recently inked a deal to build the Nanji Kalidas Mehta stadium at a cost of almost Rs 10 crore.”

“They have decided on a three-tiered approach. First they plan to make at least 12 pitches, then the dressing rooms and finally the stands. UK-based David Hemstock Associates will develop the outfield and dressing rooms.” Source

When ‘Players’, the Hindi remake of Hollywood hit ‘The Italian Job’ was announced, it was being looked at with keen interest that which Bollywood actress would be roped in to play the part of Charlize Theron. Reason being the heist action thriller had an all-men cast with Charlize being the sole leading lady.

While Abhishek Bachchan and Neil Nitin Mukesh were finalized for the key parts, Sonam Kapoor being announced as the chosen one led to a conclusion that hunt for a leading lady was finally over.

“There was more to it though with Bipasha Basu coming into picture as well”, says a source, “Suddenly the film became a two heroine film. Since Abbas-Mustan had clarified that Bipasha was not in the film for a cameo but instead a full fledged role, tongues started wagging around whether it would be her or Sonam who would be re-enacting the all-important part of Charlize.”

As it has been revealed now, it is an all new part which has been written for Bipasha as the makers wanted to make the film much more glamorized. So while Sonam continues to fill Charlize’s shoes, Bipasha too joins hands with all the boys and gets into an action mode. More

Actor Hrithik Roshan who is working on the remake of ‘Agneepath’ will be sporting a darker skin tone for his character in the film. He has done this before for the Yash Raj Film, ‘Dhoom 2’ where he played the role of an anti-hero.

Hrithik seems to be taking this role very seriously and he is leaving no stones unturned to get into the skin of the strong character he is about to play in the flick.

He is playing the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in the classic remake, the original of which was portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan. ‘Agneepath’ is being filmed in Mumbai at the moment.

Amitabh Bachchan who played the iconic character in the film won many accolades for his role. It will be quiet exciting to see how the genX actor plays the part.

All are anticipating to watch Duggu in the film not just because he plays the iconic character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan but also because it is the first time filmmaker-producer Karan Johar has decided to deviate from his patent choice of casting SRK in all his films so far. Source
