Is Anil Kapoor Embarassed With Sonam’s Comments
She’s renowned for shooting her mouth off and unleashing those vituperative comments on Twitter. If Sonam Kapoor has gained fame as a fashionista, she’s also turned (in) famous for her rash barbs.
Earlier, the actress, together with Deepika Padukone joined forces to take pot shots at her reported ex flame Ranbir Kapoor. Sonny Girl also locked horns with author and columnist Shobhaa De’ degrading her as a “60 something porn writer,” after De’ slammed Sonam declaring that “Sonam just does not cut it in the sex appeal stakes.”
Never mind the attendant criticism that she’s faced, Sonam lashed out in a tabloid quote stating that she really “doesn’t give a damn!”. Reportedly, a fan of hers also came under the famed Sonny fire for criticising her.
Strangely, amid all the hullaballoo over daughter dearest, Anil Kapoor defends Sonam, standing up for her forthrightness. In a media chat, papa Kapoor asserts that he isn’t “angry or embarrassed” over Sonam’s comments.
“Contrary to popular belief, I have never stopped Sonam from speaking her mind,” he says. “Today’s generation has a mind of its own. If Sonam makes a mistake she will realise it herself. I’m very clear that I don’t want wimps and hypocrisy in my house.”
Blasting critics that he’d made ‘Aisha’ as a vehicle and ego massage for his dearie, Kapoor insists that the “producers and financiers too wanted Sonam for the title role and it wasn’t just me.” Pooh poohing trade talk that ‘Aisha’ had slumped at the cine stakes, Kapoor says, “I sold the film at around Rs. 13. 5 crore and ‘Aisha’ made around Rs. 20 crore.”
Although, moviemakers are rather keen to pair up the Kapoor duo on screen, he asserts that they will share screen space only “if we find a great story that we can work together on.”
“I don’t think that the novelty factor should be killed just for the sake of working together,” he says. Source
