The Reason Behind The Super Success Of ‘Raajneeti’

In a year which has been laden with some high profile box office flops, case in point being KITES (Hrithik Roshan), VEER (Salman Khan) and RANN (Amitabh Bachchan), RAAJNEETI is one film which is turning out to be one of the biggest films of the season.

“Well, people had been telling me this for last few weeks and the feelers have been amazing. As an actor you do feel elated when something like this happens because you have lived through the film and hence have a hands-on idea of how it has shaped up actually. This is why I was not scared of any expectations because I knew that they would be met”, says Ajay in a confident tone.

One can trust him to say that. Earlier this year, his ATITHI TUM KAB KAOGE turned out to be a surprise success at the box office and though not many in the trade believed that it would do well in theaters, Ajay was always confident about its extended run on big screen as well as the medium of home video. Today in case of RAAJNEETI, whether it’s the plot, cast, music, buzz, hype, timing, promotion – just about everything seems to have fitted in quite well.

His confident tone doesn’t come without a reason though. RAAJNEETI is set to become the biggest money spinner of the year and promises to keep its investors smiling. Having said that, in the times when a film is said to have a target audience of either multiplexes or single screens, RAAJNEETI has scored all over.

“This is one film which became so hot over a period of time for the sheer reason that it was aimed at all segments, whether at A, B or C centres”, says Ajay, “RAAJNEETI is a sensible film and that brought in classes. On the other hand masses grabbed it too because of the ‘masala’ element in it. Moreover, youth were interested as well because today they are far more aware of all the politics than before. This is the reason why we had at a universal audience here.” Source
