The yellow bikini babe Ameesha Patel gave a political speech and honour author, humanitarian, peacekeeper, columnist, former UN Under-Secretary General, and now Minister of State for External Affairs (Government of India) Shashi Tharoor in a special ceremony at a hotel in Delhi. 

“Tufts University (Patel, an active alumnus, is an economics graduate from the varsity) is organising the event and they will be honouring Shashi. Apart from giving a political speech, I will also give a speech congratulating Shashi on his achievements. A couple of years ago, the university had awarded both of us for our outstanding achievements in our respective fields. Shashi is years senior to me and I have the highest regard for him.”  Source

We wish a very happy birthday to Asin Thottumkal. The Kerala-born actress is currently enjoying the promotion campaign for her new film London Dreams and recently talked about how co-star Salman Khan and her father got along together on set. “Salman and my father got along very well and he even gifted my father one autographed portrait,” she said.

Producer Vipul Shah has dreamed up an interesting way to promote London Dreams, the story about two village kids who want to be rock stars. He’s going to put on two rock shows in Delhi and Mumbai starring the cast of Salman, Asin and Ajay Devgan. “I see no point in the traditional media interactions,” he explained, “Besides, both the actors have done enough media in the last two months for their other films. Since London Dreams is about on-stage experiences the rock concerts seemed like a good idea.” Source

Shilpa Shetty has already begun plans for her wedding. The 34-year-old beauty, who catapulted to international fame after winning the ‘Big Brother’ show in UK, is learnt to have roped in fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani to design her wedding trousseau. Though Shilpa wore a dazzling sari by Manish Malhotra on her engagement day, she chose Tarun for her wedding because he’s popular for traditional, ethnic Indian wear, including lehengas and saris.

Tarun admits he’s been asked by Shilpa to design her wedding dress, but he refuses to reveal what he plans to create for the actress.

When asked if he would design Shilpa’s dresses for the mehendi and sangeeth ceremonies as well, Tarun gave a terse reply. “I’ll design everything!” he said without elaborating.

Rumours are abuzz that Shilpa and Raj might tie the knot either by the end of this year or early next year.  Source

The reason being his forthcoming release 3 Idiots. According to Aamir, “I tend to get nervous before the release of each film. And smoking kind of relieves the stress.’’ Close friends suggest that Aamir is superstitious about this ‘smokingbefore-each-release’ pattern.

However, his smoking has always been as much a topic of debate as everything else this elusive superstar does. People who witnessed the Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir bonding during the multiplex crisis say that SRK frequently asked Aamir, “Arre yaar, you’re not smoking these days? How do you do this — now on, now off thing? Let me in on your secret?”

But Aamir’s brown eyes would only twinkle with mischief every time because he has no secret formula for his now on, now off smoking pattern. What Aamir has, though, is the extreme will to treat the nicotine stick with disdain on one day and draw passionately on it another.  Source

The Kapoor scion who had given the world a glimpse of his butt in his debut movie Saawariya is all set to cross dress in his upcoming movie.
Ranbir sports eight different looks in the movie. He will be seen impersonating the pathanwala, halwaiwala, a corporate officer etc. He has even donned the Charlie Chaplin look in the movie like his grandfather Raj Kapoor. The actress was spotted along with her mother Susan Turquotte at the 31st anniversary celebrations of Subhash Ghai’s production house Mukta Arts in Mumbai on Saturday.

Bollywood yesteryear superhero Rajesh Khanna is all set to be part of Bigg Boss 3. The veteran actor, who will now be introduced as a wildcard entry in the show within the next two weeks, was a strong contender when the channel was finalising the contestants a few days before the show was about to be aired. However, he wasn’t finalised because of dillydallying at that point of time.

“The main problem with Mr Khanna was he wanted permission to be allowed to drink within the house. We couldn’t allow him that,” says a source from the channel.

Things have changed now. With Kamaal R Khan’s inglorious booting-out on Wednesday, the channel is once again negotiating with Rajesh Khanna. This time Rajesh Khanna says he’s willing to give up on his hard drinks till he is inside the house because, apparently, he finds the friction, tension and drama on theshow far more intoxicating than the drinks.

Incidentally, Rajesh Khanna will be paid the highest amount ever given to a contestant. Given that Khanna was Bollywood’s first superstar, it will be interesting to see him interact with the reality show’s pop philosopher Amitabh Bachchan who had taken over as the superstar after him. Source

So far Shah Rukh Khan might have had serious issues with several people from the film industry but the first actor who he had an ego clash with was Sunny Deol way back in 1993. Now, the two actors have patched up 16 years after they had a huge fight during the making of Yash Chopra’s Darr. They finally buried the hatchet during a party on Saturday night and the man responsible for the patch up was host Subhash Ghai.

A source present at the party said, “Shah Rukh had come in went up to the reticent actor and took him to the private section. Ghai headed straight to Shah Rukh and earlier in the evening and he was sitting in one of the private sections at the party venue with Karan Johar and his other friends. Sunny Deol was accompanied by director Neeraj Pathak, who he was chatting with, when Ghai suddenly reintroduced the two warring actors. SRK and Sunny shook hands and gradually warmed up to each other and were later seen chatting animatedly with lyricist Prasoon Joshi.”

Commenting on the SRK-Sunny animosity, the source added, “Sunny was probably the first one among the long list of people that Shah Rukh has had a problem with over the years. Sunny had such a big issue that after Darr he completely stopped speaking to Shah Rukh and Yash Chopra. The two actors have buried the hatchet after so many years.”

We hope that Shahrukh & Salman don’t take another 16 years to do the same. Source

The cool guitarist of bollywood Saif Ali Khan is a busy man these days, what with his film Kurbaan scheduled to release soon. But the man has his sense of humour intact. Of course he belongs to League-A these days, and his girlfriend-actress Kareena Kapoor, too, forms a part of the same league. Any way talk about crazy fans and he says he hasn’t had too many crazy experiences of letters written in blood and all that.

“But I prefer it that way,” says Saif. Probe him into thinking about some funny fan instances and he’s quick to say, “These days crazy girls come running towards my car. But they don’t shout ‘Saifoo! Saifoo!’ They’re instead asking me: Who’s your girlfriend’s dietician? It’s funny!” says the actor, who is himself hooked onto power yoga and eating right! Source

When the break-up of Shahid-Kareena took place, Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial debut film Mausam got delayed to some extent since he had to drop his plan of casting Kareena and started considering other options for the lead actress. Also, Pankaj couldn’t get a producer for a long time before Religare Vistaar Entertainment came into the picture.

When asked about him earlier wanting Kareena in his film, Pankaj said, “Who told you this? I am still writing the script. How can I think of casting actors before I have completed my script? I will further talk when we are ready to roll.”

Kareena had no idea about this till we contacted her to ask what she has to say about Pankaj Kapur writing a script keeping in mind her and Shahid’s jodi. Clear about not mixing her personal and professional life, Kareena said, “If they have a good script and a good role and ask me to do it, I see no reason why I shouldn’t.” Now that Kareena has no problem starring opposite Shahid, we wonder if his father will drop his plans of a nationwide hunt for the lead actress and make the next call to Kareena. Mausam is an out-and-out romantic film to be shot in five countries- UK, Spain, Italy, Austria and India. It is expected to start in January 2010. Source

As we all know that the Roshan family has recently come up through a big tension following Hrithik and Barbara’s episode. Now that Hrithik and Suzanne reunited again, its celebration time for the Roshans. As Hrithik’s mother Pinky Roshan celebrated birthday on 22nd October, Hrithik has thrown a big bash in honor of his mother. He threw a party at his Juhu residence and invited his close friends of the industry.

A close source revealed, “The entire Roshan family along with Sanjay Khan’s family had a private dinner on October 22 to celebrate Pinky Roshan’s birthday. For the party, Hrithik’s guest list included Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Kunal Kapoor, Jeetendra, Tusshar Kapoor, Zayed Khan, Rakyesh Mehra, Ashutosh and Sunita Gowariker, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and many others.”

Maa ka ladla took special care of the arrangements, from food to decoration and specially took care of the desserts and sushi which is learnt to be his mother’s favorites. Source

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan fans can heave a sigh of relief. Bollywood’s Jodi No 1, seen at fashion shows, parties, holidays abroad but never together on screen, are finally a couple in Karan Johar’s next film Kurbaan (directed by Rensil D’Silva). It’s releasing late November and has Saifeena (as the couple is popularly known in Bollywood in context to the Brangelinas and TomKats of Hollywood) romantically linked, sharing a kiss, making steamy love and what have you…

Their pairing in the film that deals with terrorism in the US, goes beyond glamour, stardom, style and sophistication. Saif, naturally, would rather downplay the kissing and lovemaking in the film. “There’s much more to the film than intimate scenes,” he promises. “But, yes, the intimate moments are bold and honest. Just as the action scenes are raw and bloody. And the songs, genuine and real. Or the story — brutal and shocking.”

He’s conscious of the risk of capitalising on or sensationalising the fact that Kareena and he are involved off-screen as well. Or that audiences, jaded by the knowledge they the actors know each other so well, might not find their intimacy on screen exciting enough. “But what happens in Kurbaan,” argues Saif, “is that two great actors — if I may call myself that — come together and do what they’re best at. This is what Kareena and I do to earn our living. It’s been widely reported on our holidays and days off… now you see it on screen.”

Kareena was unavailable for comment. Or, maybe she’s not the kiss and tell type of actress.
