Sonam Kapoor Defends Her Father
The Saawariya girl Sonam Kapoor rose quick to the defence of her father, Anil Kapoor, during the controversy over Oscar-nominated Slumdog Millionaire - “India is largely a poor country, which makes it a kind of underdog nation. So, I don’t understand the controversy about showing poverty in Slumdog Millionaire,” she says, “ It’s a democratic country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I loved the film.”
Sonam is being very careful about the roles she chooses – it’s been almost two years since Saawariya and she’s very much looking forward to the release of Delhi 6 next month. “Abhishek Bachchan and I share great chemistry on screen,” she explains, “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also joined us during the shoot and we would have a party every 10 days!”
After Delhi 6, Sonam, who was educated at the University of East London, will appear alongside Akshay Kumar and a chimpanzee in the movie Come On Pappu. The producers guarantee that the action comedy will have state-of-the-art special effects from the Stan Winston Studios responsible for films such as Terminator and Jurassic Park and it comes with a whopping 90-crore budget.
