Akshay Kumar - The Real King Of Bollywood Gets 71 Crore For A Single Film

akshay1.jpgThe Singh Is Kinng hero has been signed up by UTV Rampage Motion Pictures for a mega sum of Rs 71 crore. That’s just over £8.5m in British sterling and… wait for this… $15.3m in US dollars. Says an industry source, “Not even the likes of Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey in Hollywood get this much. $15.3m is around the same as blockbuster names such as Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks earn. For Akshay to get this much for one single film once again proves that he is indeed the new King of Bollywood.”

Now that’s not all… compare that to Shah Rukh Khan’s salary then Akki baby is way ahead… according to unofficial figures Shah Rukh Khan earns on average Rs 20 crore per year. This is an average total figure from his salary for acting, endorsements; however this does not include money profited through his production house.

Another source in the film trade says, “Shah Rukh Khan sold the worldwide rights of Om Shanti Om for Rs 73 crore. And in less than a year, Akshay Kumar manages to achieve around the same amount for a single movie. This further establishes his new King Kumar status. It will take something special from Shah Rukh Khan or any other actor to reach this fete.”

When Akshay was asked about this amount, he chose not to reveal any further details, saying “Market rates fluctuate. My price will be decided when the film is being sold. Who knows what the market will be like then?” Prior to this Akshay’s asking price for a film was a mere Rs 30 crore. Source
