Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par bagged six key awards at the Nokia 14th Annual Star Screen Awards on Thursday, January 10, Mumbai.

Shah Rukh Khan was adjudged the best actor award for his performance in Chak De! India. The best actress award went to Kareena Kapoor for her spirited performance as Geet in the Imtiaz Ali directed film Jab We Met.

Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone were named as the Best Pair onscreen in Om Shanti Om. 

Shah Rukh Khan performed the ‘Dard-e-Disco’ number from Om Shanti Om at the event. Others who performed included Shahid Kapur, Katrina Kaif, Urmila Matondkar, Riteish Deshmukh and Dia Mirza..

 Emraan Hashmi’s marriage is on the rocks. The actor, best-known for his on-screen kisses, married his long-time sweetheart Parveen Shahani about a year ago.  Emraan and Parveen had been going around for almost five years before they tied the knot.

The marriage hit troubled waters when Parveen, who is a school teacher, recently got to know about Emraan’s close relationship with a Pakistani girl, Sanaa. Parveen was particularly upset when she learnt that Emraan and the new woman in his life had spent some private moments in Cape Town.

Sajid Khan has become the youngest debut director to deliver a blockbuster ‘HEYY BABYY’ which has gone down in the annals of Bollywood among the top 10 grossing films. And surely, since he got the pulse of the audience right with his debut film, Sajid Khan has been inundated with offers to direct his second film. According to sources, he has been offered lucrative deals running into crores of rupees, by the producers to cash on his super successful debut.

But Sajid Khan is not biting the bait. He has already committed his second film with Sajid Nadiadwala, whom he considers his closest buddy. In fact he considers Sajid Nadiadwala as a dream producer to work with. Their second film together with a dream star cast has already been touted as a sure fire block-buster in the making in trade circles.

No wonder then that the industry that calls Sajid Nadiadwala as ‘Mr. Blockbuster’ for the highest percentage of hits delivered by his banner now refers to Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala as ‘Blockbuster Buddies’ for the massive hit in ‘Heyy Babyy’ and the potential blockbuster in the making.

who goes on to become the beloved consort of Mughal emperor Akbar in the upcoming film

Last year, when British actor Sir Ben Kingsley announced his ambitious film on Taj Mahal, he

had unequivocally stated that he could not think of any actress other than Aishwarya to play

queen Mumtaz Mahal.

And now, Hollywood director Michael Radford wants Aishwarya for his film on Taj. He doesn’t

want Ash to play Mumtaz, but Salim’s wife Mandi.

If Ash agrees to act in this film, she would get the distinct honour of playing the wives of

three generation of Mughals – Akbar, Salim and Shah Jahan – in different projects, of

course.

While ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ is set to release on February 15, Ben Kingsley’s film will go on the

floors later this year.

The promos of Taurani’s Race have created quite a buzz in the industry. But besides the slick and international feel of Race, directed by the master of the thriller genre Abbas-Mustan, the industry is abuzz about Bipasha Basu�s hot scenes with Saif Ali Khan.

According to insiders Bipasha and Saif have shot a steamy song and a passionate scene in the film and both shared a comfort level and had no awkward moments during the shooting.

Says Bipasha, ‘Right now in Bollywood, we cant feel awkward about doing any scene during shooting as we are informed well in advance about the story and screenplay. I am quite comfortable shooting for sizzling scenes as long as I know what I am supposed to do and am not uncomfortable about the idea. More

What if the critics are mean to him and almost wrote him off with his first movie, the producers seem to love Himesh, the actor. After the surprise success of Aap Kaa Suroor, Himesh is all set to star in the reboot version of 1980s Subash Ghai super hit Karzzz (yes, this isn’t a typo, there are three ‘z’s in the new version).   
 
His scout for a lead lady for Karzzz has ended with him zeroing in on producer Indra Kumar’s daughter debutant Shwetha to be cast opposite him.

Himesh will play the role immortalized by Rishi Kapoor – sans his customary cap – and Shwetha, the role played by Tina Munim. Interestingly, Farah – Shah Rukh team’s recent blockbuster Om Shanti Om is also evidently inspired by Karz. Himesh’s Karzzz will be produced by T-Series and directed by Satish Kaushik. Rest of the cast includes Urmila Matondkar, Gulshan Grover, and Rohini Hattangadi.

According to sources “He wants to write a first person prologue on what got him into body building. In fact, he plans to trace his journey from his skinny days in Maine Pyar Kiya to his toned up body.” Right now Sallu is not sure about what will be the main topics in the book, but he is reading up on fitness books written by well-known authors. Sallu seems to be taking his writing quite seriously, as just recently he completed the script for his film Veer. Salman is also known to dabble in painting and has also received appreciation for it.

After getting Kareena Kapoor tottooes on his forearm, Saif is now thinking to tie knot with her. There are reports that the actor is planning to marry Kareena by the end of this year. It is not known if Kareena who is at the peak of her career would like to settle down so soon.

Abhay Deol’s fantasy has come true. The actor, who played a guy who fantasises about Yana Gupta in Manorama-Six Feet Under, is actually dating Aftab Shivdasani’s ex-girlfriend in real life!

If sources are to be believed, Yana and Abhay are in a steady relationship since the past two months. Although the two had initially decided to keep their relationship a secret, they seem to have changed their minds and thrown caution to the winds.

An industry insider says, “Yana and Abhay are often spotted together at a suburban hotel in Mumbai. They also attended veejay Yudhishtir’s birthday party in December together.”

After five years in the industry, Bollywood actor Ranvir Shorey feels like a kid in a toy store, spoilt by the sheer variety of roles offered to him.

“Comedy comes easily to me. However, I enjoy doing different kinds of roles and by God’s grace I am getting an opportunity to do so. Believe me, it feels great!” says Shorey. “It feels as if I am a kid in a toy store, who has loads of preferences. What could be more satisfying for an actor than having the liberty to select and do the work of his choice,” he adds.

Ranvir started his career as an assistant director on the small screen and later worked as a director and VJ for music channel V. His stint in Bollywood started with Ek Chotisi Love Story. His acting was largely appreciated in films like Mixed Doubles, Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Khosla Ka Ghosla! to name a few. Commenting on how having been behind the camera helps him as an actor, he says: “I think, in about one-third of my career so far, I have been involved in direction for Channel V.” He continues, “Although, more than being a director, the work I did as an assistant director helps me more as an actor. Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar was so touched by the story of a dyslexic child in Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par that he now wants to be a father.
Karan admitted Taare Zameen Par was one of the most ‘emotive experiences’ of his movie-going life.
Talking about his experience, Karan said: “I couldn’t move from my seat for 10 minutes after the show. I just sobbed like a baby. I was so moved by the story of the parents discovering the core of their child’s spirit that I now want to be a parent. ”
