Shilpa won the public’s support after fellow contestants – British actor Jade Goody and model Danielle Lloyd – and hurled racially tinged insults at her in an episode that led anti-racism petitioners worldwide to file a record 40,000 complaints to the British media regulator Ofcom.
The A-list Bollywood actor now takes home a prize money of £100,000 (approx Rs 80 lakh) apart from big-ticket endorsements, jewellery and a chance to anchor a cricket show among others.
King Khan leaves no stone unturned as he prepares himself for the hot seat of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) on star Plus. The Big B, Mr. Bachchan who had adorned the hot seat for over six years, declined the offer when he was approached for the third season due to his failing health conditions. Shahrukh Khan who was the second best choice was approached and roped in for the show as its new anchor to breathe in a new air of freshness.
Replacing the Pitamaha of the television King Khan is stepping into his shoes shouldering a huge responsibility of keeping up the tempo of the show as well as retaining the TRP rates.
Shahrukh has gone to the extent of converting the first floor of his home Mannat into a miniature KBC set with all its essential paraphernalia custom made high-backed chairs, the graphic system, the sound system, the tune, etc. except for the fog rest of the set is a mere replica of the original. This enables him to easily juggle between his busy time schedules. With his house as a studio and his friends Karan Johar, Farah Khan, musicians Vishal, Shekhar and choreographer Ganesh Hegde and others to act as mock contestants Shahrukh is determined to do justice to his role as an anchor. He has done away with Amitabh’s stock phrases “computerji” and has also given the computer a new guise.
