Piggy Chops Sizzles At Berlinale

Priyanka Chopra walked the red carpet at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival’s premiere of DON 2 all by herself sans a male escort to match her ‘leading lady status’. She was in a translucent sari strewn with zardozi trinkets and a border to match, providing the winter-struck Berliners a warm glimpse of her well-chiseled physical assets. She also wore a wide smile, signed autographs, and performed all her duties with as much enthusiasm she could muster in her awkward circumstances. What she could not hide was the fact she was ill at ease and a bit out of place and lonely.

No lead actress of a film would have felt so ignored at a red carpet event ever. She was almost being shunned and shunted, for whatever reasons. She was not even seen in the post-screening party of the film that was briefly attended by Shahrukh Khan. The only occasion she was seen with her hero was when she went on stage after the film’s screening. She rarely moved her legs when the King made others perform some signature DON 2 moves. SRK did not even insist on her doing so. More

Despite Of Ill Health, Srk Makes It To Berlin

The Bollywood badshah finally graced the city of Berlin with his royal presence to the extreme satisfaction of his fans. It happens at times. You acquire a glow after having braved a serious bout of cold and Flu. King Khan looked smart and cheerful while he walked the red carpet at Friedrichstadt-Palast, the venue of the DON 2 Berlinale premiere, in Berlin. He wore a formal Tuxedo, and looked healthier and heartier than ever before. Was it the effect of his autograph seeking fans who turned up in good numbers to cheer for him and to attend the film’s screening at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival?

The King arrived in Berlin in style by a chartered flight following his advance guard Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Priyanka Chopra. He was not alone. Gauri Khan was with him as well at the Red Carpet in her smart red dress, looking ever youthful and ‘fighting’ fit. She could not have allowed her recuperating darling of a husband and doting father of her children to be all by himself in an extraordinarily cold Berlin weather. And what can be warmer than a caring, admiring, and beautiful wife next to you in these conditions to provide you the mandatory medicinal doses and to ensure that you have the muffler tightly tied around your neck. Shahrukh Khan Cancels His Berlin Premiere Trip Due To Health Issues

He is suffering from fever and cold and has been advised rest by his doctors and may not be travelling to Berlin at all for the Berlinale Special screening of DON 2. Surprisingly there was no confirmation of this news from SRK’s PR office in India that has no idea of the change in his programme. If SRK’s Berlin programme is indeed cancelled, his countless German fans will be disappointed. The ticket sales to the premiere of the film had started on 6th February and were sold within a few hours.

SRK’s European fans were to arrive in large numbers in the city to have a glimpse of their heartthrob and cheer him up at the red carpet. This will also upset the plans of Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg to use the occasion to promote the city as an important attraction for Indian tourists. The gala premiere of DON 2, on 11th February 2012, is certain to be a dull affair now. However, according to reports, film’s female lead Priyanka Chopra, director Farhan Akhtar, producer Ritesh Sidhwani and the German stars Florian Lukas, Florian Fitz and Rike Schmid, are certain to attend the red carpet. Shahrukh’s All Set For His Berlin Trip

It is certain that there will be a huge crowd of his squealing, screaming, and swooning female fans who will brave the Berlin chill and snow to have a glimpse of their heartthrob. In 2010 when the King came to Berlin with MY NAME IS KHAN, it was rumoured that the tickets for his film’s show were sold in black. There will be a repeat show of DON 2 next day noon at reduced prices (9 Euros) at the same venue. The 2 D Hindi version of the film will be screened with English sub-titles. The dubbed German version will be released later on 16th February, 2012, which will mark the film’s release in the other language versions in overseas territories like Russia, Germany, China, France, Israel, and Turkey.

The Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) officials are expecting a huge rush of SRK fans in Berlin. They are treating his presence as THE event of this year’s festival. Expecting a kind of a mob frenzy, generally associated with rock stars, they have refused to disclose the name of the hotel where SRK will be put up. It should be Ritz Carlton in all probability. The Berlinale web site also has a special Q&A page to answer the queries of SRK fans and to provide information about ticket sales etc. Source

Aamir Khan Takes Over Don 2 Record

If last year Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan shone at the BO with their respective films, this year clearly belongs to Aamir Khan. Why? His film Talaash is the year’s most-awaited film and has garnered tremendous response from the fans. Now the reports suggest that the movie’s theatrical rights have already been sold for a whopping Rs 90 crores.

Yes, the movie has struck gold five months before the release, and has beaten Shahrukh Khan’s last year’s hit Don 2 by a margin of Rs 10 crore. Sources reveal that the thriller starring top heroines Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor has fetched Rs 90 crores for its theatrical rights. The deal apparently got sealed between producer Excel Entertainment and Reliance last week.

But the road to success for Talaash has become a bit difficult now. Insiders say that Don 2 was sold for Rs 80 crores because it was a hit franchise. But with this development there will be a great deal of recovery pressure on the film Talaash, which is directed by Reema Kagti, who has never directed a thriller before. Reema’s first film was the lighthearted comedy Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. More

Saif Is Not Going To Make Mistakes That SRK Made

It almost seems like an eternity ever since one has been longing to catch Saif Ali Khan and his film AGENT VINOD. The film has been in the making for a while and though there have been quite a few announcements earlier when it comes to the film’s release plans, 23rd March seems to be the D-day now.

”This time around it is final. In fact the theatrical promo of AGENT VINOD should be out soon. Saif has gone an extra distance to ensure that it is well cut and makes an instant impact because a lot depends upon the First Look these days. It pretty much brings the film in a make or break situation. He doesn’t want to hurry up things and then get into a fire fighting mode,” informs a source. More

Farhan Akhtar Is Enjoying The Success

With the kind of sustained success that DON 2 has seen for itself, what with 100 crore all set to be in its kitty within two weeks flat, Farhan Akhtar and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani have ended 2012 on a high, what with ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA (which had released last year) being acknowledged as a superhit too. With GAME as their only flop and the other two biggies hitting the bull’s eye, the makers are indeed happy with the way their productions have shaped up.

”Yes, ZINDAGI NAA MILEGI DOBARA grew from strength to strength while DON 2 has showcased all over again that the story/setting by itself and the character have been loved for so many years now,’ smiles Farhan, ‘It is an advantageous situation to be in. In fact I remember how during the promotion of ZINDAGI NAA…. I was asked questions around DON 2. Now it was pretty much a deja vu moment because during the promotion of DON 2, people had been enquiring around TALAASH.”

Seems Farhan is indeed happy to push the boundaries and in the process fetch good compliments for himself, what with DON 2 being a very good example of how a Bollywood film has come closer to his Western counterparts when it comes to style and technique being adopted to narrate an action thriller. No wonder, he is being hailed as a director to reckon with and audience is already wondering what would be do next. More

Farhan Akhtar Ends 2011 With A Bang

Farhan Akhtar  is dying to take a break from work. With DON 2 out of his way and taking a very good opening that would ensure that at least a hit status is round the corner, Farhan is managing to breathe easy. As a producer his TALAASH is six months away which means he can now afford to take a break, something that he hasn’t done since he faced the camera for ROCK ON.

Informs a friend of the filmmaker/actor, “Farhan hadn’t imagined in his wildest of dreams that he would become mighty busy as a filmmaker as well as an actor when he first acted in ROCK ON. It seemed like just a solitary film that he wanted to experiment with and then return to making movies as a producer and director. However that was not the case to be and resultantly, he had to multitask with his various assignments.”

This meant that immediately after ROCK ON, he completed LUCK BY CHANCE as well, his second film as an actor. In fact acting bug bit him to such an extent that he went on to score a hat trick of acting assignments with KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK. More

Priyanka Chopra – The Queen Of Remakes

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who has acted in the remake versions of ‘Don’ and ‘Agneepath’, says the remakes provide younger generation an opportunity to revisit the original cult films.

Priyanka was last seen in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 2′, a sequel to ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again’ (2006), which was a remake of the 1978 Hindi cult classic ‘Don’, starring Amitabh Bachchan.

The actress would be next seen in ‘Agneepath’, which is a remake of the 1990-film, starring Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, played by Hrithik Roshan. Priyanka is playing the lead role opposite Hrithik.

Starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor, Agneepath will hit the theatres on January 26, 2012.

“I had not seen ‘Agneepath’ until the time Karan Malhotra told me about this film. When you create a remake, it is a good thing in a way, as the younger generation might not have seen the cult classic films and experienced it,” Priyanka told reporters here. More

Shahrukh Khan’s Don 2 Releases Today

Aamir Khan, who has ruled the Christmas season for three consecutive years, is being replaced by none other than Shahrukh Khan this year as he’s all geared up to enthrall the audience with his December 23, 2011 release DON 2. But, will King Khan’s DON 2 surpass the astonishing Box-office record of Aamir’s Christmas releases like TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, GHAJINI and 3 IDIOTS?

Aamir’s 2007 release TAARE ZAMEEN PAR made an approximate collection of Rs. 60.835 crore while the 2008 release GHAJINI made around Rs. 115.000 crore and 3 IDIOTS, which released in 2009, grossed nearly 208.000 crore. Since then Aamir is recognized for December bonanzas. But, this year it is superstar Shahrukh who’s taking a chance to taste the success.

Interestingly, the dialogue promos and songs of SRK’s DON 2 have created the required buzz. A series of DON 2 dialogues have been released which people have liked. Moreover, DON is an established franchise. So SRK can take a sigh of relief. However, his last release RA.ONE which received mixed responses from both critics and audiences may have an adverse effect on DON 2. More
