South Sensation Asin is learning a new dance form. Waltz it is, for the Ghajini actress who is learning this particular form for an advertisement shoot. There was a sequence in an advertisement for a soap brand that the actress endorses, which required her to perform the ballroom dance of the ‘Viennese Waltz’ style, and if onlookers are to be believed, Asin mastered the steps of this complex dance form in a relatively short period.

The ad has been directed by the renowned Harvey Brown who specially travelled down to Wai, where Asin had been juggling her Bol Bachchan shoot as well as her Waltz rehearsals, to supervise her practice sessions.

Asin who has already been trained in Bharatnatyam, is quite enamored by this new dance form and plans to learn it further as and when she can find time! Source

Proving to be lucky at the Bollywood box office, actress Asin scores yet another 100 crore mark with her latest comic caper HOUSEFULL 2 being one of the biggest grosser of 2012 till date!

Asin has registered a lot of ‘firsts’ in her name. She is the only actress from south who has made a successful transition into Hindi films in the recent times. She has tasted tremendous success within a period of mere 3 years in the Hindi film industry. Out of the total 4 Hindi movies she has done, each of them have the record of crossing 100 crore mark.

She started with GHAJINI – which marked her Bollywood debut opposite Aamir Khan essaying the notable character of Kalpana. This was followed by the super hit Salman Khan starrer READY in 2011, a romantic comedy and now HOUSEFULL 2 where she was paired opposite Akshay Kumar for the very first time. More

Director Sajid Khan, whose third directorial venture Housefull 2 is ready to hit the screens, says he is confident the film will be a blockbuster as he makes films by placing himself in the audience’s seat.

“Only a good film will work. If my film is not good then it will not work beyond Monday. But I can say it with a lot of confidence that this film (‘Housefull 2′) is a blockbuster. I am not saying this because this is my film but because I have made this film according to the audience. Every film I make, I make it as an audience,” the 40-year-old said here at a promotional event for “Housefull 2″.

Sajid Khan says it’s the family audiences that make a film a hit. “The day my film does not work, then no matter how many tie ups I do, it will not work at all. It will work when you people go and watch it with your family,” he said. More

Though she and Mithun had been cordial with each other during the days spent on HOUSEFULL 2, to Asin’s surprise, the veteran actor knew everything about her work not just in Bollywood but also down South. Moreover it was also the Tamil factor that came in handy because due to his business in Ooty, Mithun knew the language quite well. Soon, Asin and Mithun found themselves interacting in Tamil and become much more familiar with each other.

The source continues, ‘He seemed to know everything about Asin’s career history and had apparently seen quite a few of her Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. He pointed out nuances of some of her work from the past and was also quite kind with his compliments.’

This isn’t all as the veteran actor also made an observation about her stint with actors belonging to varied age groups. He felt that Asin came with just the right personality that allowed her to be paired opposite younger as well as relatively senior heroes. More

Southern actress Asin, who has done commercial films in Bollywood like Ghajini, London Dreams and Ready, is actually looking out for a performance-oriented role in mainstream films.

‘I have no such restrictions that I’m going to work in only mainstream commercial films but the ideal situation for me at this point would be to hopefully get a role in a commercial mainstream format, which has some scope for performance. And that’s very difficult to get,’ Asin said.

‘Rather than concentrating only on niche cinema where you get better roles or concentrating only in commercial roles, where usually you don’t have much to do, the ideal would be to get a mix of both.’ More

“During the London schedule of the film, Subhaan just didn’t leave Asin’s side. He was giving her all the attention that she needed and was making sure that she was well taken care of.

As per our sources, the out-and-out comedy ‘Bol Bachchan’ earlier had Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan on board while the hunt for their leading ladies was on. Now it is said that Asin and Genelia D’Souza have been signed on respectively.

It is said that Asin and Ajay share the same endorsement company which helped the actress to bag this film. However, some sources share that that’s not the case and Asin is just impressed with the script while she is yet to give her nod for the project. On the other hand, the production team believe that Abhishek along with Genelia seems to be quite fresh pair. More

This is simply amazing that the combined collections of ‘Bheja Fry 2′, ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’, ‘Bin Bulaaye Baaraati’, ‘Bhindi Baazaar Inc’ and ‘Cycle Kick’ couldn’t beat 13 crores collections that ‘Ready’ enjoyed despite being in it’s third week.

‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ is a box office disaster, ‘Bin Bulaaye Baaraati’ is a flop while ‘Bhindi Baazaar Inc’ and ‘Cycle Kick’ have gone entirely unnoticed. A horrifying week for Bollywood which saw a series of ‘reds’ in it’s balance sheet, ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ was the biggest disappointment of all. Despite being a Shahrukh Khan production, it couldn’t even register 2 crores at the box office and died a silent death. Till 20 days back Kareena Kapoor was the only actress in the history of Indian cinema to have two films to her name that collected over 100 crores – 3 Idiots and Golmaal 3. Now Asin too has made it to the elite list with first Ghajini and now Ready repeating this feat.

“Only six films so far have crossed the 100 crores mark – 3 Idiots (202 crores), Endhiran/Robot (estimated at over 150 crores), Dabangg (140 crores), Ghajini (115 crores), Golmaal 3 (108 crores) and now Ready (110 crores and still counting)”, informs a trade source, “This makes it two films for Kareena Kapoor, two for Asin and one each for Aishwarya Rai and Sonakshi Sinha that have crossed this major milestone.”

While Ready is all set to cross the collections of Golmaal 3, it is also obvious that Asin would now manage to topple her own Ghajini record and go further up in the list. More

Southern beauty Asin Thottumkal, who stepped into Bollywood three years back and has already worked with bigwigs like Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, says that she finds herself lucky to have got such opportunities.

“I do find myself lucky because in the film industry there are a lot of factors that probably result in success. You need talent and discipline but somewhere you need to have that X factor also. What that X factor is, whether that’s luck, or god’s grace or the wishes of all the people around you, that is open to interpretation.

“But I think that that one factor that helps is definitely with me otherwise I wouldn’t have got all these opportunities to work with these bigwigs of the industry,” Asin told. More

Reportedly Asin, the most beloved actress of the South, has no time for South Indian films.

“Right now, I have not signed any South movie because Housefull 2 has taken up most of my dates and I couldn’t accommodate anything else,” she was quoted as saying.

The actress is currently busy with Housefull 2, after which she will soon team up with Bollywood badshah Shahrukh Khan in Vishal Bhardwaj’s cinematic interpretation of Chetan Bhagat’s book ’2 States: The Story of my Marriage’. Source
