Mega star Amitabh Bachchan, who has been associated with the government polio eradication campaign, has said that his granddaughter was given polio drops Tuesday in his presence.

“Day before yesterday (Tuesday), my little granddaughter was given polio drops in my presence,” Amitabh Bachchan said here Thursday on being felicitated for his contribution to the polio eradication campaign.

The campaign has successfully managed to eradicated polio across India for nearly 15 months now.

Amitabh Bachchan said: “We must ensure that there must be no cause of polio for at least three consecutive years. We have just crossed one year and there is still a long way to go.”

He further added: “As a parent, I can only ask you, request you and get angry on you to continue this very noble cause.” Source

American chat show queen Oprah Winfrey will be soon visiting India to shoot her new chat show Next Chapter with spiritual guru Deepak Chopra. She even wants to participate in the Jaipur Literary Festival in the country. Oprah tweeted, ‘Never been to India, it’s been on my vision board forever (sic).’

However, he admits they want to settle for a name that starts with the alphabet ‘A’. “We had shortlisted a few, but it’s difficult to choose that ‘one’,” asserts the new father, adding, “I can’t tell you the names that we’re considering right now. Ash and I want it to be with the letter A.”

The new father is often compared to his dad — Amitabh Bachchan — in terms of his acting skills and box-office hits. Does he feel his daughter too may face those pressures? “It’s a blessing to be my parents’ son and my grandparents’ grandson. My child will grow up saying her parents are actors. Bollywood star and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has given birth to a baby girl, her husband Abhishek announced on Wednesday.

“IT’S A GIRL!,” Abhishek, also a top actor, wrote on his Twitter account, @juniorbachchan, without giving any further details.

Bachchan’s father, Bollywood legend Amitabh, tweeted his joy at the new arrival: “A dada ji (a grandfather)…Ecstatic!”, calling his new granddaughter “the cutest baby girl”.

The baby was born at the private Seven Hills Hospital in the western Mumbai suburb of Andheri on Wednesday morning, hospital officials told. Source

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan checked in to the Seven Hills Hospital for delivery at around 11.30 pm on Monday night.

She was admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri late last night, a spokesperson of the Bachchan family told the Press Trust of India.

However, it is not known yet when she is expected to deliver the baby.
