The Year 2010 Was Excellent For The K-Actresses

It can be called a co-incidence of sorts that most of the films that have done well at the ticket window this year star heroines whose names start with the initial K.

Starting with the most experienced Kajol who started the year on a high with the hit MY NAME IS KHAN, where she was paired with her favourite co-star Shah Rukh Khan. She did disappoint a bit with her second and third release, WE ARE FAMILY and TOONPUR KA SUPERRHERO, but her super sensitive act as Mandira in MNIK saved the day for Kajol and her fans.

Then comes the most successful and certainly the numero-uno heroine of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif, who has a super hit in form of RAAJNEETI and her latest release TEES MAAR KHAN too has embarked upon a historic start netting almost 40 crore during the first weekend itself, second only to the biggest DABANGG.

If Katrina is there can Kareena be left far behind? Well, not at all. Kareena Kapoor may have had a bad year with her moth ridden MILENGE MILENGE and WE ARE FAMILY failing at the turnstile but she did recover with the blockbuster GOLMAAL 3 thus ending the year on a high note. More

Konkona Sen Sharma & Ranvir Shorey To Tie Knot

The bengali beauty Konkona Sen Sharma is going to marry her long time boyfriend actor Ranvir Shorey on Dec 27. The duo has been seeing each other for more than three years and is deeply in love. Last Year, the couple exchanged rings and now that both settled in their professional life, they wanted to take their relationship to a new height.

Speaking about the wedding ceremony, an insider reveals, that Konkona’s mother “Aparna is thrilled at the turn of events. She has been shopping for her daughter’s wedding trousseau at all the big sari shopping arcades in Kolkata. The jewelery will come from one of the most famous jewellers of Kolkata. Director Rituparno Ghosh, whom Konkona calls mama (uncle in Bengali) will dress up the bride and do her chandan design on the face while designer Sabyasachi Mukherji will most probably design the bride’s wedding outfit.”

Konkona Sensharma Declines To Re-Shoot The Bad Scenes

After seeing the craze of their film, the makers of Wake Up Sid, Dharma Productions felt their lead actress Konkona Sen Sharma wasn’t looking her best. They conveyed this to Konkona in polite words and requested her for a re-shoot of all these portions. This would have lead to additional production costs but they were game for it. But then Koko banged her furious foot down declaring, “This is what I am and this is what you shall get!”

Director Ayaan Mukherjee (Rani’s cousin) had no option but to move on to the next schedule. Unit insiders claim, Konkona was signed on for the project as the script demanded an ordinary looking girl who was a perfect contrast to the film’s lead actor Ranbir Kapoor. So one wonders why the makers were creating a fuss about it all. Source

Konkona Sen Sharma Plays The Role Of A Lesbian

konkona-sen-sharma.jpgKonkona Sen Sharma will be seen in a character of a homosexual in Rohan Sippy’s next film, The President is Coming. Konkana’s character, Maya Roy, is a lesbian. The film is in English and directed by debutant Kunaal Roy Kapur, who has also directed the same script as a play earlier.

The source added, “Konkana did not want to be prejudiced and wanted to play the character in her own way. She thought that watching the play before the film’s shooting could affect her spontaneity.” Konkana playing a lesbian was kept under wraps by the filmmakers. Our source revealed, “It was meant to surprise the audience.

But the focus of the film is not Konkana’s sexuality, it is a humourous film about six ambitious Indians who will stop at nothing to win a handshake with President Bush. It is a mockumentary!”

When we asked Konkona if she was playing a lesbian in The President is Coming, she quipped, “It won’t be fair to reveal anything so soon, but after Dostana, do you think only boys should have all the fun?” The film also stars Shernaz Patel and Ira Dubey. Source

Konkona Sensharma – All Praise For Ranvir Shorey

konkona.bmpThe couple Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen Sharma is in sync with each other as they both do not like to talk to the media about their personal lives.

“I don’t like to talk about my personal life to the media, only about my films,” says Konkona.

“I don’t talk about my personal life to media,” says Ranvir.

The two will be seen together in a short film directed by none other than Mira Nair. Titled How Can It Be? this film will be clubbed together with seven other short films for a portmanteau titled Eight. “Mira Nair’s film is basically about a couple whose marriage is not working out and it’s the individual dynamics of that particular family. And how she deals with her husband and she leaving the marriage, the house,” explains Konkona.

Meanwhile, Ranvir — who has just been seen in two out-and-out commercial potboilers Singh is Kinng and Ugly Aur Pagli — seems to be completely bowled over by his first encounter with Mira Nair.

“I’m intoxicated to work with Mira Nair. Any actor working with a director like her would want to impress her. She is such an intuitive director,” says Ranvir. More
