The award season has just started in B-town and our Bollywood ladies are gearing up for their upcoming numerous fashionable outings. The first big award function of the year, Colors Screen Awards, was held on Saturday in Mumbai, and it was not without its fashionable moments.

The red carpet was shinning with the bright Bollywood ladies, who took fancy to elaborate gowns, blingy saris and elegant anarkalis for the event. Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone stole the limelight with their gorgeous gowns and make-up. Also wonderfully styled were Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif; both the actresses picked saris for the event.

The others who wowed with their western attires were Amy Jackson, Shazahn Padamsee, Madhuri Dixit, and Asin. But since we are also listing the worst-dressed at the red carpet, watch this slideshow to see who failed to wow us, stylewise. Source

Recently, Salman Khan was caught in an uncomfortable spot when both his ex-girlfriends Aishwarya and Katrina, and Salman himself landed up at the same venue for their respective assignments.

Last heard, the two women can’t stand each other. While both have been Salman’s girlfriends at some point (an obvious reason to dislike each other), zoom reporters dug deeper to find out that when a famous toy company modeled their new doll on Katrina, Aishwarya tried to undermine Katrina by saying that the toy company had originally approached her, but she refused the offer and so it went to Katrina. This obviously did not go down well with Katrina. More

The ‘Bodyguard’ of choice for the whole of Bollywood is Salman Khan. His sister Alvira even famously tweeted – ‘Even a Superhero needs a Bodyguard’ (poking fun at RA.ONE’s debacle). But at a recent party thrown by Farhan Akhtar, the lovely Katrina, whilst making a quick exit, was mobbed by a crowd leaving her helpless and stranded. All of a sudden, someone from the party came out and took her to safety. Interestingly, it was none other than Farhan Akhtar himself as he was caught on channel Zoom’s camera.

Looks like Salman has some serious competition in his ‘Bodyguard-of-Choice’ status in Bollywood. Source

5) Don 2

Panned by many critics, this film makes it to the list for not only being the first genuinely slick action flick of Bollywood, but also because it brought  back memories of a Shahrukh Khan we didn’t despise. Don 2, despite its slow pacing and rather humdrum plot, worked rather gloriously because the Don himself got to deliver some fun punchlines; wear masks of actors far more good looking than him and romance the girl with the sexiest pout in Asia, Priyanka Chopra. Looking back at the year, this is the only mega hit of 2011 that was actually fun to sit through.

4) Stanley Ka Dabba

This film should be much higher up, if only it wasn’t for the lack of its mainstream elements. Yet, this is a small-scale, simple and spectacular film that works as effectively in providing a refreshing twist to the poor state of children’s cinema in India as it does in tugging at the heartstrings without trying too hard. The Partho kid is rather neat, but his father, director Amole Gupte (the writer of Taare Zameen Par) is the one who takes the cake here. A must-see!

3) Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

This film is in our list because this is, by far, the best looking flick of the year, a tour-guide to Spain that unimpressively breezed through much frivolity and mush before taking off the covers and showing us a heart and a soul. This was mainstream, commercial cinema that had something to say — and while the underlying theme was rather stale — the packaging was pretty damn great. Katrina rode a bike all the way through Barcelona only to give a man a kiss, Hrithik Roshan stood opposite her to complete the fantastic looking pair and Farhan Akhtar rose above the role to truly give a heartfelt performance.

2) The Dirty Picture

First banned and then unbanned in Pakistan, this gutsy film is perhaps the most unforgettable feature film of the year. The rigorously censored version in Pakistani theatres should be given a miss. This one is to be seen at home, late at night when kids and parents have been put to sleep. Revolving around a vulgar little South Indian item girl, The Dirty Picture is far braver an achievement than Delhi Belly — another push-the-envelope feature — simply because it uses a female to forward the theme. And what a female she is! Vidya Balan — a genuine actor revelling in her onscreen glory with such remarkable glee — is the one reason why this film is so high up on this list. Trendsetting stuff!

1) Rockstar

Take a bow, ladies and gentlemen. In a year when Aamir was absent, Hrithik was sleepy, Shahrukh and Salman were busy baking blockbuster recipes; one guy stood up and showed them all who the real daddy of performance is. Ranbir Kapoor and this realistic story of music, love and pain are not stuff that Bollywood is used to. Kapoor is a superstar and a spectacular actor who knows how to pull off both sides of him at the same time.

Thanks to Sheila Ki Jawani and Chikni Chameli, we have no doubt about the fact that Katrina Kaif must have received countless offers to perform at a hotel or a party on the 31st of December. And while most stars cash in on their popularity and dance on the eve of New Year, Katrina Kaif has declined all the offers.

Katrina Kaif said that it’s only during New Years and Christmas that her whole family comes together; and that is a really special occasion for Kat! She also said that she would never let go these special family moments just coz she has to perform at a hotel!

Not only this, Katrina Kaif also said that she would only perform on New Years if she is given a mammoth amount of money! She said that the amount should be so huge that it compensates the amount of working in two movies or so that she can buy another house for herself in London; and she says she has not received any such luring offer yet! Katrina Kaif is garnering a lot of praise for gyrating to item number ‘Chikni Chameli‘ in Karan Johar’s forthcoming film ‘Agneepath’, but the actress says the ‘lavni’ style dancing was not a cakewalk for her.

“The response to ‘Chikni Chameli’ has been fun so far. It was hard work. It was very fast and it was not a style I was used to, but I took it as a challenge…I think we all went for it as a team and did the best we could. I am happy people are liking it,” the 27-year-old actress said here while launching new range of Panasonic airconditioners.

Even actor Salman Khan is smitten by the song and Katrina is happy about this.

“He has not told that to me but I think that’s a great thing. He has a great taste in music and songs. So, if he likes it then it’s great,” said Katrina who featured in two more item numbers in ‘Shiela ki jawani’ and ‘Bodyguard’. More

Agneepath director Karan Malhotra believes that Katrina Kaif has done full justice to the song that is driving the nation crazy.

“I think the way the song was made, it was so wonderful, that only a topmost actress could have done justice to the song. And as far as Katrina is concerned, her USP is that she has never been seen in any film in that kind of zone that Chikni Chameli is in. So which is why she also stands out in that atmosphere and that is why the song is catching a lot of eyeballs,” the director said at the music premiere of Agneepath at a radio station.

The men behind the song are composer-brothers Ajay-Atul, primarily known for their work in Marathi films and serials. Chikni chameli is a song inspired by their own Marathi song Kombadi palali. More

The script of the sequel to his 2008 film “Dostana” is locked and the movie is ready to go on the floors in 2012, with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham back in the frame, informs filmmaker Karan Johar.

“DOSTANA 2 is definitely starting next year….Script is locked…Abhishek and John are ready!!! The boys are back!! Tarun (director Tarun Mansukhani) is all set….,” Johar posted on his Twitter page.

The original, youthful romantic comedy, about three friends, featuring Priyanka Chopra in the female lead, was a blockbuster.

The boys are the same for the sequel, but Katrina Kaif has replaced Priyanka as the female lead. Source
