Karan Johar is returning this week to woo the box office with a romantic comedy which coincides with the Valentine’s Day revelries. He has teamed up with the fresh pair of Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor to attract the audiences.

Directed by debutant Shakun Batra, the film’s cast has Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah and Ram Kapoor and it will be released on 1,200 screens worldwide. It is made at an approximate budget of Rs.25-30 crore.

In “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na”, Ratna had played Imran’s mother, but her character in the new film is a complete contrast. More

Saif Ali Khan didn’t mince words when asked which of Bollywood’s many Khans does his girlfriend, actress Kareena Kapoor look best with.

Apart from Saif, Kareena has so far worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and will soon be seen with young Imran Khan in ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’. After working with Saif in ‘Tashan’ and ‘Kurbaan’, she will be seen with him again in the upcoming ‘Agent Vinod’, set for release March 23.

Less than a month remains for the release of EK MAIN AUR EKK TU and debutant director Shakun Batra is confident that just like other Kareena Kapoor starrers, his debut film too would benefit immensely from the presence of an actress of her caliber.

”I know for sure that people would appreciate her performance. She has put a lot of her in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU. In fact this is one of the few scripts which she has read more than twice because she wanted to do something more in the film and grab the nuances well. If I look at the film objectively as a director as well as a member of the audience, I see this as one of her better performances,” says Shakun. More

Promos of EK MAIN AUR EKK TU are on-air and it’s obvious that the film has been designed as a romcom. Though, one may wonder whether the film is pretty much a ‘template’ affair where the film begins with fun, then there is drama and emotional moments and eventually it is all a happy ending. With the genre catching heat in Bollywood since last few years, can we expect first time director Shakun Batra to deliver something different?

The first time director Shakun Batra says, ”See, every genre has certain conventions to be followed, whether it is a thriller, drama, action or romcom. A genre comes with its own grammar and we to play around with the script and tweak the rules while not allowing the genre to go haywire. Of course in a romcom you would have a boy and girl falling in love followed by banter. It is my job as a story teller to play with the narrative characters.” More

Actor couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor was spotted at the Midnight Mass at a church in Mumbai on Christmas eve. They were accompanied by Kareena’s mother Babita and Saif’s son Ibrahim. The couple will be heading to Switzerland to bring in 2012.

“We are not exactly celebrating it in a very lavish way this year, but I make it a point to visit the church to attend the mass no matter where I am. It’s somehow very beautiful and the positivity around is amazing. You actually feel like taking in all the warmth around,” Kareena had told earlier.

“It’s been a rather eventful year for both of us. Now we just want to give each other some time. Taking this break with Saif is what keeps me going all through the year,”  Kareena told the daily.

In his seven films so far, the 28-year-old actor has worked with seven different actresses – Genelia D’Souza, Minnisha Lamba, Shruti Hassan, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor.

Imran says he is excited about his unusual pairing with Kareena, who is much senior to him in the industry.

The makers of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol may have passed off Bangkok as India in the pre-climax scene in the film, for the sake of convenience of shooting, not all directors are willing to do so.

And that’s exactly what Shakun Batra did, as he shot his debut film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu at Las Vegas during Christmas and New Year last year. The story featuring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor is set against the festive backdrop of the casino city.

Priyanka Chopra admits Madhur Bhandarkar offered his most ambitious project “Heroine” to her, but she couldn’t accept it due to its streak of similarity with “Fashion”. However, she is sure Kareena Kapoor will do full justice to the role.

“Madhur and I did talk about ‘Heroine’. For me, however, it would have been like a Bollywood version of ‘Fashion’. Kareena is the perfect choice. She’s such a brilliant actor,” Priyanka told ETC’s “Bollywood Business” host and trade analyst Komal Nahta on his show.

“As a filmmaker, Madhur brings out the best in any actor, and Kareena’s such a superior one,” she added on the episode to be aired Wednesday.

Even though the Number One crown is pretty much sitting right on her head, Kareena has always maintained that the number game doesn’t quite matter for her.
