It might come to you as a surprise but Anushka Sharma is being questioned at the Mumbai airport for not declaring goods in her luggage that may have qualified for duty.

Sources say that while Anushka had listed the items while leaving India, she failed to enumerate them on her return from Toronto, Canada, where she had gone to attend the IIFA awards ceremony.

Anushka’s manager claimed that the Band Baaja Baraat actress was held up by the customs officials to complete formal paperwork required for her borrowed accessories. Source

Since parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor are out of town, visiting daughter Ridhima in Delhi, Ranbir Kapoor saw the opportune moment and called his friends from the film industry over for a party at Krishna Raj, the Kapoors’ Pali Hill residence on Wednesday evening.

Actress Anushka Sharma managed to become the talk of the town after her thunderous performance in Band Baaja Baarat and the actress admits that she is in a happy state of mind. Though the Bengaluru girl is fast gaining popularity, she insists that she is far from being a typical Bollywood star that people usually mob.

When people see me on the streets, they just let me be — at least in Mumbai people are sensible enough not to mob you. At the most, some ask me to pose for pictures or give them an autograph. I haven’t had any unpleasant experience till date.” Okay, so she doesn’t get mobbed by fans but what about male attention? “Honestly, nobody hits on me. I know it’s actually sad but that’s the truth. Tell me where is the time to meet a new guy and get to know him. I don’t meet men outside my work and the sad part is that I work round the clock, which leaves me with little chances of meeting my knight in shining armour, but I am hopeful,” she winks.

Ask the actress if she thinks that she got her due a tad bit late in the industry — after four films and she said, “Honestly, I can’t get pompous. As an actor you just have to do you work well and the praises and approvals you get after that are just added bonuses. I am definitely getting a lot of compliments and good gestures, but I don’t pay too much attention to it. I am here to do my job and I will make sure I do it really well.” Source

Recently released Band Baaja Baraat of the famous Yash Raj brand was not only entertaining in its content, but also paved the way for a vibrant on screen compatibility. The on screen amalgam established between Ranvir and Anushka seems to hold great promises for the future.

The lively film which introduced the tall and lanky Ranveer Singh appears to have enchanted the audience with its refreshing touches in screenplay and acting. To go by the feedback of the cine goers the newly introduced Ranvir put up an amazingly matured performance. His gelling with the relatively experienced Anushka especially in the scenes depicting the bus journey has cast a magical spell on audience.

Curiously the vibes between the two is not merely an on screen prospect for they share good rapport and vibes beyond it also. In promotionals preceding and succeeding the release of BBB, the debutant was all praise for his co actor. Acknowledging the popularity and acclaim struck by their on screen pairing, Ranvir lauded the actress’s talent and generosity. While there is little to deny her talent, one wonders what could have attributed the tag of generosity to the chirpy Anushka.

Tinsel town might be ecstatic with the testimony of Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh’s love for each other when they sealed it with a kiss in full glamour world glare, but Anushka is not amused. She now wants to get to the depth of ‘who leaked their intimate moment’ charade!

To add injury to the wound, she strongly suspects Ranveer and his publicist are behind the leak-job! Now, now, Anushka! Do you think media thrives on these careless ‘leaks’? Come on! You are a smart girl, aren’t you?

Apparently, Anushka was so convinced of her judgment that she even questioned Ranveer about it. The lad however was as shocked at the leakage as she was and said so. Its not known yet whether the explanation soothed Anushka or not. Is it because you thought he wants publicity?

Well…then here’s a FYI…he has two more films to come from the YRF’s stable who are known to promote their heroes aggressively. It’s unlikely that he will need a ‘kiss’ promotion!

For Nikhil Advani, PATIALA HOUSE could well be the most important release of his four film career so far. Though he began on a positive note with KAL HO NA HO, his SALAAM-E-ISHQ saw mixed response coming his way. However what brought the film maker down was CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, a movie with which both he as well as Akshay Kumar went ambitious but not with much success. 

On its release in early 2009, the film failed at the box office. An action comedy, it was lambasted by the critics and many wondered if Nikhil would ever be able to wield the director’s baton again. However the director wasn’t required to lie low for long as he soon announced PATIALA HOUSE with Akshay Kumar, a news that surprised quite a few.

“Well, it should be my turn to surprise the audience now,” smiles the soft spoken film maker who had incidentally assisted on films like IS RAAT KI SUBAH NAHI (with Sudhir Mishra) before going totally mainstream in Karan Johar camp with KAL HO NA HO.

Even after working with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, actress Anushka Sharma got nervous when she had to shoot with veteran actor Rishi Kapoor for her forthcoming film “Patiala House”.

“When she was to shoot her first scene with Mr. Kapoor, she was found trembling,” a source said.

“Patiala House” features Rishi Kapoor (Bauji) as an authoritarian head of a big Punjabi family, of whom the entire household is afraid.

Finally, Rishi broke the ice by speaking to Anushka and sharing his acting skills. He shared many of his experiences with her, which made the young actress comfortable.

“Rishi Kapoor is without a doubt a veteran actor and Anushka though being new is a great performer and ‘Patiala House’ opens screens space for both in an interesting way,” said Bhusan Kumar of T-Series, who is producing the film.

Directed by Nikhil Adwani, “Patiala House” shows how a second-generation Sikh Guttu (Akshay Kumar) and his siblings in London held back their dreams, in love and respect for their authoritarian father (Rishi) until Guttu meets Simran (Anushka) who gives him the strength to stand up once again to fulfil his dream. This cross-generation drama is about second chances.

Anushka Sharma has said she is glad she is known for her talent but has questioned why she gets less hype than other Bollywood actresses. Speaking to the Mumbai Mirror the actress said she does not know why Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor were more famous than her.

“I don’t know. You tell me. Having given three hits back-to-back in three years I wonder why there is not as much hype about me as them,” she said.

Sharma added that she thinks the other leading ladies are less famous for their films than they are for their off-screen activities.

“I am glad that I am known for my talent and not for my clothes or controversies,” she told the paper.

Sharma made her Bollywood debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 2008 with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, for which she was nominated for a Filmfare award. Source

She played a simple girl next door in RAB NE BANA DI JODI. Then she got into an altogether different zone by becoming Ms. Smart in BADMAASH COMPANY. Now in her upcoming release BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, she has completely transformed her personality by turning into someone who is just not polished enough to make a style statement. 

“That’s right, I couldn’t have afforded to be a proper girl here”, she smiles, “She is just not polished enough and the way she speaks English is also not proper. She is so ‘alhad’ that she didn’t even hold back chewing or coughing while she was talking. This character is someone who didn’t care about the way she walked, looked or behaved.”

Due to the Delhi setting of the film, there is a certain dialogue delivery which one can see is pretty much standing out in this Yash Raj production. One can well believe that Anushka must have prepared for that considering the fact that contrary to popular perception, she is neither a Delhi girl nor a Punjabi in real life

“Thank you so much of pointing this out, otherwise I would have been forever tagged as a Punjabi”, laughs Anushka, “See, I was lucky that both the director as well as the writer are from Delhi. There is a lot of Delhi in the script and I had to learn the gestures and the dialogues. I had to learn to speak in a particular way. I had to cut out the pauses and go on and on. There is an altogether different manner in which people speak in Bangalore (from where she comes), Mumbai (where she works now) and Delhi (where the film is set). I had to study those nuances well and deliver.” Source
