Sunny Deol Is All Set To Fight With Shahrukh Khan

Sunny Deol’s I LOVE NEW YEAR is in talks to be released on Christmas eve. So far so good. The only hitch (and a big one at that) is that Shahrukh Khan’s DON 2 is slated to arrive on the same day i.e. 23rd December. Since there is a back story behind this decision, it makes the clash all the more interesting.

For the uninitiated, it was more than a decade and a half ago when things soured between Sunny and Shahrukh. For Yash Chopra’s psychological dramatic thriller DARR, Sunny was the chosen one as the lead hero while Shahrukh was to play a quintessential villain. However as the film progressed, so impressed was Chopra Sr. with Shahrukh that the BAAZIGAR boy ended up being a hero who went away with all the sympathies while Sunny’s presence seemed like a cameo. Sunny Deol Will Wear Dhoti In His Upcoming Film

The success of Yamla Pagla Deewana has bolstered Sunny Deol to pay special attention to little details in all his future releases. The actor is now taking special interest in Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s film Kashi Ka Assi.

In the film, Sunny will be dressed in a dhoti throughout. This will be a different getup for Sunny and he wants to ensure that he carries it off well. Like Aamir Khan in Lagaan, perhaps? Source

Sunny Deol Is Worried About His Role In ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’

Though his film YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA is making the right noise, but there’s something that is bothering Sunny Deol to the core.

After doing a spate of films with patriotic themes, Sunny Deol is perturbed about the fact that some people have tried to dub him as an actor who just belongs to that kind of genre. The actor is baffled at the way patriotism is perceived by a few in bollywood.

Though in his film YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, Sunny Deol will return to romance, but the actor cannot stop speaking his heart out. Says he, “There are a few people who have tried to dub me as someone belonging to one flavour of cinema. For them Sunny Deol was all about patriotism and I wonder what is wrong in being patriotic. We should be looking up at this fact rather than looking down.”

With YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, Sunny Deol will be putting up a different flavour of his personality, something which we haven’t seen in long time from his side. Yes, we mean the return of the romantic. Source

Will ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ Drive The Audience Crazy?

For quite a while now, it has been a norm in Bollywood that films which release during or immediately after the New Year that is in the month of January, mostly fail to bring in the audience to the theaters thus flopping at the box-office.

The cold weather (in most of India) seems to prove detrimental with people refusing to come out of their homes in search of entertainment and only those movies which released earlier, during Christmas or before that, carry on their winning march into the New Year. Last year it was 3 IDIOTS and before that GHAJINI and prior to that WELCOME and TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. In fact one can remember some quite hyped movies failing to even take a half decent start when released during the month of January.

However it appears that all that is about to change now with Top Angle Entertainment’s YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, featuring the three hot and handsome Deols, Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby all set to hit the theaters on January 14. More

Sunny Deol & His Back Pain

The ultimate Sunny Deol is pretty excited and happy that his film, YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA is ready for release. But there’s something that has been troubling him since a long time now. We’re talking about his back pain. Says Sunny, ‘I’ve had this back problem for so many years. It’s there ever since I had joined the industry. I’ve gone through quite a few surgeries.’

According to Sunny, this problem was accentuated because of his zeal when he was young. He reveals, ‘This is something which was self-created. When you are young, you think you are invincible and you do all stupid things like different action scenes. And at that time the safety element was not that much there.’

The 54-year-old actor further adds, ‘And I used to play a lot of games like squash. But I never used to rest much. That’s what started it and it’s going on since then. Every time I have a problem I have to give up compromise my lifestyle.’

Sunny just has to grin and bear it now. ‘It doing much better. I’m used to pain now. But nobody likes pain because you have to sit in bed for so many days and even months sometimes,’ said the actor before signing off. Source

Shahrukh & Sunny Deol Are Friends Again After 16 Years

So far Shah Rukh Khan might have had serious issues with several people from the film industry but the first actor who he had an ego clash with was Sunny Deol way back in 1993. Now, the two actors have patched up 16 years after they had a huge fight during the making of Yash Chopra’s Darr. They finally buried the hatchet during a party on Saturday night and the man responsible for the patch up was host Subhash Ghai.

A source present at the party said, “Shah Rukh had come in went up to the reticent actor and took him to the private section. Ghai headed straight to Shah Rukh and earlier in the evening and he was sitting in one of the private sections at the party venue with Karan Johar and his other friends. Sunny Deol was accompanied by director Neeraj Pathak, who he was chatting with, when Ghai suddenly reintroduced the two warring actors. SRK and Sunny shook hands and gradually warmed up to each other and were later seen chatting animatedly with lyricist Prasoon Joshi.”

Commenting on the SRK-Sunny animosity, the source added, “Sunny was probably the first one among the long list of people that Shah Rukh has had a problem with over the years. Sunny had such a big issue that after Darr he completely stopped speaking to Shah Rukh and Yash Chopra. The two actors have buried the hatchet after so many years.”

We hope that Shahrukh & Salman don’t take another 16 years to do the same. Source

Sunny Deol Sends Legal Notice To Big 92.7 FM Radio Channel

Deeply hurt by the programme “Sonsunny” mimicking the Deol family, Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has sent a legal notice to Big FM radio channel asking them to withdraw the show or face defamation suit for a compensation of Rs 200 crore damages.

“I and my family are terribly hurt….we have tolerated the programme for long but there is a limit to how much one can take,” Sunny told a press conference here today. The legal notice, served on the respondent last Saturday, has asked them to withdraw the show forthwith or else the Deol family would consider filing civil as well as criminal defamation cases.

“We will wait for a week and let us see how they react… if need arises, we won`t hesitate to file a criminal case along with civil suit for damages,” said Ashok Sarogi, Sunny`s lawyer. Alleging the show was not in good humour, the actor said”things have gone out of hand. Deol family is being defamed. My blood boils. It hurts. Please understand our anguish.”

“Mimicry is fine but in this programme, Sunny`s name has been dragged and an impression is sought to be conveyed that he himself is participating in the show. This is really cheap,” said advocate Sarogi. The actor said “I am not against mimicry but when it becomes cheap, it is bad. I can`t even hear the programme. It provokes me. I get upset. After all, we are all human beings”. Source

Sunny Deol – Ready To Launch His Son Rocky Into Films

sunnydeoll11.jpgThe real hero of bollywood Sunny Deol is consolidating his production house. Reveals the actor, “By now, I know that my elder son Rocky (his real name is Karan but we all call him Rocky) would want to join the industry. He’s turning 18 this year. The other son Rajvir will be turning 14. Both are still studying in Mumbai and they want to get into films.”

Sunny confesses, “I’m afraid they won’t see the struggle my dad saw; or for that matter, the struggle Bobby and I had to face. They’re missing out on something vital.” Sunny confesses he’s a strict father, “just like our dad was with us. I’ve also been very strict with Bobby. But there’s nothing I’d say no to him for.”

“I’ll encourage Rocky in every way possible. It’s not that my children don’t know any other life. We’ve brought them up like normal kids and we’re quite cut off from the film industry’s social circuit. But they’re passionate about cinema because that’s what they’ve seen their father and grandfather doing.” Source
