Ranbir Kapoor is feeling the absence of his lady love a lot these days. He has been frantically sms-ing Deepika from the US where he’s shooting, saying that he wants her back in his life.

A friend of Deepika says her dignity dissuades her from talking about her past, there’s a distinct possibility of they getting back together. She adds it was Ranbir who told Deepika that the relationship was off. She took it on her chin and moved on, keeping the hurt to herself. But the minute Ranbir heard about rumours linking her to Shahid Kapoor, he started sms-ing Deepika and their mutual friends, asking if the rumours were true.

Shahid, on the other hand, has been mulling over other matters. His relationship with Priyanka Chopra ended on a rocky note a few days before Christmas last year but both are trying to connect to each other.

The starson Ranbir Kapoor won’t have to learn sign language from scratch for his role as a deaf and mute character in Anurag Basu’s film. The actor, who assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Black, spent ample time with Ayesha Kapoor and Rani Mukerji when they were being trained on the sets by a teacher for the physically disabled. He had also visited several institutions for the hearing and speech impaired to research on ‘Black’.

The real challenge now lies in creating a musical score that would amply express the simmering discontent behind Ranbir’s silence in the film. Quite like what Laxmikant-Pyarelal did for Jaya Prada in the 1970s in Sargam, which coincidentally starred Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor. While filmmakers Bhansali and Gulzar have made songless films like Black and respectively about deaf and mute protagonists, Anurag Basu is going the other way with a full-on musical to bring out his deaf and mute hero’s emotions and feelings.

Consequently, music director Pritam Chakraborty is a worried man as he now faces the biggest challenge of his career in friend Anurag Basu’s new film starring Ranbir. Incidentally, the director and composer live in the same building. More

Karan Johar is famous for giving himself a break between films. His ambitious venture My Name is Khan will release on February 12, nearly four years after his last release.

“I can’t churn out movies like a machine. But I do promise to start another film this year,” Karan said. Reportedly, the filmmaker is keen to cast his favourite Shah Rukh Khan and Wake Up Sid actor Ranbir Kapoor in his next venture.

“That’s news to my ears. Right now, I am too much into My Name is Khan and can’t think of anything else,” he said. “The cast you mentioned is also untrue.”

Karan also adds that he hasn’t cast anyone in the Agneepath remake yet. “A lot of people ask me why I am keen to remake Agneepath. Let me explain. The film didn’t work at the box-office when it opened almost two decades ago and my father, who was very vocal that Agneepath was one of his finest films, always felt that the film never got its due,” said Karan. “He would often prod me to remake it some day. So here I am, fulfilling my father’s wishes.” Source

The mother of latest heartthrob Neetu Singh Kapoor has developed a huge liking for Ranbir’s current squeeze, Katrina. The two ladies get along like a house on fire and think similarly on a host of subjects.

A source says, “Neetu and Katrina share a very warm relationship. Katrina respects Neetu a lot. On the other hand, Neetu feels that Katrina is a very well-mannered girl.”

Neetu too confirmed her liking for Katrina. She says, “Yeah. Katrina is a very nice girl. I am very fond of her.” However, when we asked her to say more about her fondness for Katrina, she clammed up.

The Kapoor guy Ranbir Kapoor is being tipped by producers as being the hottest likely star for 2010. The likeable young man is said to have been offered a 50cr contract by UTV. “UTV is very happy with the way Ranbir’s Wake Up Sid fared at the box office,” said a source, “His forthcoming movie Rajneeti is also with UTV and the producers have taken a liking to this young actor whom they dub as the Next Big Thing in Bollywood. So they have offered him a three-film deal worth Rs50 crore which he has apparently signed.”

Ranbir is currently filming in the US with co-star Priyanka Chopra for Anjaana Anjaani, which seems destined to be another hit romantic comedy. There is quite a long filming schedule ahead for the stars in New York.

Now officially single, Ranbir had a strange experience recently when out dining with Imran Khan. At this point, he still hadn’t shaved off his Rocket Singh beard. A precocious young woman came into the restaurant and recognising Imran immediately rushed over to his table, demanding that Ranbir, whom she didn’t recognise, take photos of her with Imran. She then returned to her table, not giving a moment‘s thought to the bearded one she‘d left behind. When her friend pointed out that the bearded guy was in fact Ranbir Kapoor, she then rushed back to the table apologising profusely and then demanded that Imran take photos of her with Ranbir. We all know about the fact that Shashi Kapoor has romanced both his brother Raj’s daughters-in-law — Babita Shivdasani-Kapoor in Haseena Man Jayegi in 1968 and Neetu Singh-Kapoor in Deewar in 1975, and Randhir Kapoor has also romanced his sister-in-law (bhabhi) Neetu Singh in a couple of movies like Rickshawalla in 1973 and Kasme Vaade and Heeralal Pannalal in 1978. But, of course, since they are first cousins the pair would get audience rejection.

The kissing scene for the Siddharth Anand directed movie was recently shot during the its Bangkok schedule. Although Ranbir and Priyanka are pairing for the first time their on-screen chemistry is amazing. A source on the sets reveals that the two star interacted and partied together before the scene was shot. Both of them also did lot of readings for their romantic scenes.

Siddharth Anand making Ranbir kiss in the movie was quite obvious after the director made him kiss three ladies in their last movie together. Ranbir had locked lips with Minissha Lamba, Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone in Bachna Ae Haseeno. Even though Ranbir and Priyanka have shot one kissing scene another one might be on the cards. When we asked Ranbir about this, he said, “I think comparing me with Shahrukh Khan would be like insulting him. Till now, I have done only 3 films, which are by no ways a parameter to compare me with him. In my last film ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ I have played a romantic character, where in ‘Rocket Singh –Salesman of the year’ there is romance, but on a different level.”

The latest heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor is climbing the price ladder very rapidly. On looking at his popularity, producers are ready to sign him at any cost. He is hardly four films old and he has been holding the price tag of 12 crores. Director Imtiaz Ali has signed Ranbir for a whopping amount of 12 crores.

An industry source notes, “Ranbir is already in the Top Ten bracket. He is outdoing himself with every new film  and his fan base is increasing with every passing day”. He was paid 50 lakhs for ‘Saawariya’ and 5 crores for “Bachna Ae Haseeno“. For the new film, ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, Ranbir Kapoor has been paid Rs 8 crore.

His recent two releases, ‘Wake Up Sid’ and ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, did a roaring business all over. “Now Kapoor has signed Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision’s next to be directed by Imtiaz Ali for Rs 12 crores.

Ranbir has wanted to work with Imtiaz and would’ve readily signed the film for a far lesser amount. But he is being offered big money, so why should be refuse?,” asked a trade pundit. More

It might come as a surprise to all of you but the fact is that Ranbir Kapoor’s first crush in life was his schoolteacher. Ranbir smilingly states in this regards, “I have had many crushes in life and my first crush was my second standard school teacher. Maybe because she was the first woman in my life after my mother who pampered me and loved me just the way my mom did. I used to secretly adore her.”

However, now the actor confesses that his perspective towards looking at love has changed a lot. “Love is defined in my ways. I don’t know how you look at love. Love has different meanings for me,” he says.

Well now high on the success of his last two films the actor is now looking forward to ‘Rajniti’ and ‘Anjaana Anjaani’. Yet the actor says that his first film Saawariya will always remain special for him. “I did the film two years back. Though it was a disaster I learnt how to act and I learnt all about cinema through Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
