Anil Kapoor Is Anxious About The Response To 24

The Indian telecast of the American serial 24 has begun. Finally everybody can see Anil Kapoor in the role of Kamistan President Omar Hassan. Kapoor is anxious to see everyone’s reactions to his performance. “I am always excited, but not nervous. The appreciation I have received internationally has cushioned me.”

Several reports claimed that Dev Patel, also of the Slumdog Millionaire fame, recently called Hollywood racist. But Kapoor doesn’t agree with that. He says that they are the epitome of equality, but he also claims that being cast as the president of a fictional Middle Eastern country modelled on Iran in the TV show 24 did not feel demeaning in anyway. “I have worked all over the world, and I have never seen this kind of equality when it comes to being offered roles. I have never felt like I have been typecast. They treat everyone equally. If you are talented, can draw people, deliver the quality of work and bring in the money, they will accept you even if you are from Timbuktu”, says Kapoor. He feels that Patel’s statement was misconstrued. “I know Dev too well, and he could never have said something like that.” More

Anil Kapoor To Make A Film For Daughter Sonam

Anil Kapoor has planned a film called ‘Ayesha’ exclusively for his daughter Sonam Kapoor. He has roped in writer Devika Bhagat to write the narrative of ‘Ayesha’, which is based on Jane Austen’s famous novel ‘Emma’. Sonam gets to play desi Emma, one who is young, witty and rich. Devika has earlier penned the story of Bachna Ae Haseeno .

Sonam will be seen in an ultra-mod chic look for portraying Emma, as Anil Kapoor believes that the story of Emma can be told well in contemporary Indian context. The film will be set in a metropolis. Of late, Sonam has been shedding her traditional looks; her recent photo-shoots (especially for Verve) and public appearances say it all.

Abhay Deol has reportedly been finalized to play the male lead, who is Ayesha’s worst critic as well as the one who secretly loves and cares for her. Newcomer Arunodoy Singh is roped in to play an amiable young flirtatious man whom Ayesha adores and pursues. And VJ Cyrus Sahukar will provide the third angle to the story as a guy who wants to marry Ayesha.

Rumour has it that Anil himself is likely to play the role of Ayesha’s father – an amazing character who’s a hypochondriac highly concerned about the health and safety of his loved ones.

The movie is ready to go on floors by April and it’s been reported that shooting will proceed at single stretch. Source

Sonam Kapoor & Anil Kapoor – No Welcome At The London Film Festival

anil-kapoor-daughetr-thumb.jpgSonam Kapoor may only be one film old but that isn’t stopping her father Anil Kapoor from making her known to the world. Recently Sonam was seen on the arms of her father Anil Kapoor at the London Film Festival where the latter was invited to promote the film Slumdog Millionaire in which he has a guest role. Says a source, “Anil was supposed to come with his wife but instead took his daughter Sonam. The reason behind this could have been to promote her to the outside world, outside of Bollywood.”

But things didn’t work out as Anil intended as the media present totally ignored both father and daughter. “None of the British press was interested in taking photos of Sonam or her father. To them they were unknowns and not news-worthy,” said the source.

In Slumdog Millionaire Anil Kapoor plays the role of the anchor of game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, imitating the legends Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Source

Sridevi & Anil Kapoor – The Evergreen Hotties Together Again

anil_kapoor_and_sridevi_in_mr_india1.jpg

Evergreen on-screen couple, Sri Devi and Anil Kapoor were seen together recently after a lengthy period. This happened at the felicitation function of father Surinder Kapoor where entire Kapoor family was seen together.

Just to refresh your memory, Sri Devi is married to Anil Kapoor’s brother Boney Kapoor. Surprisingly, in the function there was no chemistry seen among the brothers as well as, Sri. It was very well visible that the family was together just for a formality of posing for the camera. Not to forget, Anil was the first one to leave the function after meeting and greeting the people around. Source
