Salman Khan is up against Amitabh Bachchan or so it seems. The actor, who had left Sony in a mess after refusing to do ‘Dus Ka Dum’ at a lesser price, will now face competition from Big B as the channel is set to launch it’s show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 4’ on air on the same date as the launch of Sallu’s ‘Bigg Boss 3’ on Colors.
 
And if sources are to be believed then the fallout between Salman and the channel did not happen only over money. “Salman shocked the channel by saying that he was interested in doing ‘Kaun Banega Croreopati 4’. For this, Salman had sent feelers to the channel via the production house. This was when the channel was in advanced talks with Mr Bachchan,” states a source.

As per reports, both ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 4’ and ‘Bigg Boss 3’ were to be launched at the end of this year. However now, both shows will be aired on the same date and the same time in mid-October. More

There is hardly any time when Amitabh Bachchan has to apologize for his action, for the actor is so meticulous in his mannerism and ways. You are back to another season of KBC. How does it feel to be again hosting a show you had left behind after the second season?
It feels good. I feel very nostalgic. Other than the channel changes, most of the crew is the same with Siddharth Basu and his team. It’s good to be among familiar faces again.

The show is starting on your birthday. Does that make it seem special?
The exact date has yet to be announced. I believe the Channel is considering the 11th. If it happens yes it does become special. Birthdays are always special.

How much do the changes in the format change your equation with the audience?
There are some changes in the show, which will be revealed once it starts its broadcast. However, the basic format cannot undergo much alteration, that shall remain. But, yes, being able to reach out to the common man and to give him or her an opportunity which could be a life changing amount in winnings, is where the excitement lies. While sources in the channel insist that they are still in talks with King Khan, sources close to the actor insist that he has already turned down the show. Amitabh Bachchan, the original host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, returns to the show after ten years, replacing SRK. So it’s natural for the channel to want Shahrukh to “replace” AB as Bigg Boss host, now that it is clear that Big B isn’t doing it anymore. A channel source adds, “Currently negotiations are on with SRK and Colors. Of late, SRK has become good friends with Colors’ Head of Programming, Ashvini Yardi, so he might just do it. Amitabh Bachchan, who is set to host “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC) for the third time, refuses to take credit for turning the game show into a phenomenon when it was launched in 2000 with him as the host. “I was merely a fortunate bystander that climbed on to the KBC joy ride. I am happy that it worked,” Amitabh, 67, said.

He feels the show worked because “KBC conceptually was brilliant in its design. There was drama, learning, suspense and thrills all rolled into one. Its presentation was something that had been pioneering for Indian television. All these factors worked in its favour”.

The fourth season will go on air before the year ends. Excerpts from an interview:
You are back on KBC though on a different channel this time. What made you agree to host the show a third time?

Sony TV now has the rights for KBC and they approached me. They shared with me their research and the changes that they wished to incorporate in the show and I agreed. Source

Our sources reveal that Bollywood mega-star Amitabh Bachchan surprised Gujarat tourism Secretary Vipul Mittra by deciding to fly in economy class, all the way from Mumbai to Gujarat on Friday. Apparently, Mittra, who especially flew to Mumbai to receive the actor, wanted to hire a chartered plane for Big B, who has been appointed as the ambassador of Gujarat tourism.

However, the legendary actor refused the offer and asked to make reservation in Jet Airways regular flight. So arrangements were made for him to fly to Gujarat for a promotional shoot on the tourism development of the state. Everybody on the flight was pleasantly surprised to see such a huge star seated amongst them, with no starry tantrums at that.

Amitabh Bachchan, who had been appointed the ambassador for promoting Gujarat tourism by Chief Minister Narendra Singh Modi couple of months ago, will be staying in Gujarat for a week. His flight was half an hour late, so he headed straight to farm house where he was supposed to stay. The Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan, who joined Twitter a few days ago, congratulated actor Shah Rukh Khan for having as many as 400,000 followers on the microblogging site.

“Congrats!! you crossed 400,000… meri gaadi thoda dheeli chal rahi hai (I’m at a slower pace at the moment),” the 67-year-old posted on his Twitter page.

Amitabh, who has become a regular on the site now, presently has 98,228 followers. While he writes on his Twitter page couple of times during the day, he also has a blog, a voice blog and a mobile blog.

The gorgeous beauty Katrina Kaif has endeared herself to Raajneeti director Prakash Jha enough for him to cast her as Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter in his next film Aarakshan — a hard-hitting drama with the thorny issue of job reservations in the background in which the Big B plays a character partially inspired by his father, the illustrious Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

Katrina, who spent considerable time educating herself on dynastic politics for Raajneeti, has started reading up on the job-reservation issue for Aarakshan. The last time the actress came together with the Big B, it was to play his son Abhishek’s foreign-returned girlfriend in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar.

In Aarakshan, she will be paired with Ajay Devgn for the first time. Set in the world of academia, education and job reservations the film has the Big B as a college principal and Devgn, his favourite student, a member of the backward class who supports the job-reservation issue.
