Once she was ‘Chirpy Chawla’, who excelled in light-hearted roles in films like Bol Radha Bol (1992), Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993), Duplicate (1998) and Jhankaar Beats (2003). But in the last few years, happy Juhi has turned unhappy in offbeat cinema like My Brother Nikhil (2005), Sukhmani (2010)
and I Am (2011).
“Yes, it’s been a while since I’ve done a regular commercial movie,” the actor agrees. “The last one was Bhootnath (2008). So, it was a welcome relief to shoot for SOS—Son Of Sardar in Patiala last year. It’s a comedy with lots of cute, quirky characters and funny lines.”
The rom-com revolves around two Punjabi families living in havelis (bungalows) out in the country. Juhi is a slightly dehati (rustic) Sardarni opposite Sanjay Dutt. “It’s such a coincidence that the last film I shot with Sanju, Safari (1999), also had Tanujaji (actor Tanuja), and now I’m working with both of them again,” she says, remembering how on a rainy morning during an outdoor shoot in Tekri on the Kerela-Tamil Nadu border, Sanjay had made tea for the unit. “I pretended to be a spot boy, holding an umbrella over his head while he poured the tea from the kettle into little glasses.” More
When eminent personalities from Bollywood graced Ajay Devgn’s production assistant Shubhash’s daughter’s wedding reception, it definitely must have been a fairy tale wedding for the bride and the groom!
Mr. Shubhash, a veteran production assistant for Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt Films since more than 20 years married off his daughter Harshala in grand style to Sachin, in midst of the who’s who of B-town at IMA Hall, Juhu.

It seems that after tasting success with cop drama Singham, director Rohit Shetty wants to achieve the ultimate casting coup-that of getting Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn together in a movie! Cinema buffs would know that Devgn and Khan have never shared screen space till date and Devgn is said to be not very impressed with the SRK-Karan Johar camp, though Devgn’s wife Kajol has acted with King Khan in many films and both are supposed to be good friends.
When asked to elaborate on his plans to bring the two actors together, Shetty was quoted to have said, “I might bring SRK and Ajay together, or direct a film produced by both Red Chillies and Ajay Devgn Entertainment. Both are talented actors and great producers and care about the people who work for them a lot.”
Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan will be coming together for the first time in action film Chennai Express and it is said that Khan was eager to work with Shetty after being impressed with the way he made Singham with Ajay Devgn. Source
Once perceived to be sworn enemies, the stars amicably swapped rights to a couple of scripts recently
Going by this report, it seems the perceived enmity between Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan is long over. The latest is that the two have exchanged the rights to a couple of scripts, recently.
Not surprisingly, the common factor is Rohit Shetty, Devgn’s director buddy who’s making Chennai Express with SRK next year.
On December 9, HitList reported how SRK chose to do Chennai Express with Rohit, over Angoor, the remake rights of which eventually went to the director known for his action comedies like the Golmaal series and the action flick Singham. More
Ajay Devgn’s next film is turning out to be a family affair. Son of Sardar features his mother-in-law Tanuja and sister-in-law Tanishaa as well.
The comic caper, which stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla, is currently being shot in Punjab. Says a unit source, “The presence of Tanuja and Tanishaa on the sets was a source of curiosity.
Initially, it was thought that the Mukerji women had arrived to just check out the action, as it is Ajay’s production.”
Apparently, Devgn and his folks do not want to talk about the casting at this stage. More
Ajay Devgn may be priding himself to be the SON OF SARDAR while Saif Ali-Khan is all set to run the RACE all over again. However when it comes to box office battle, none of the two are in ‘race’ of any kind. Though both were earlier said to be dead serious about coming on Diwali next year, Ajay as well as Saif feel that it is futile to add on to the mayhem. Hence they have instead planned to arrive a fortnight later.
“When SON OF SARDAR and RACE 2 were announced, it was being said that these films would be releasing on Diwali 2012. After all Ajay has a great track record on the festive occasion with GOLMAAL 3, GOLMAAL RETURNS and ALL THE BEST being huge successes. On the other hand RACE 2 is also one of the hottest films of next year and would have been gladdened the audience had it made it to the festive occasion,” says a source. More
I was surprised when just a few days before the release of ‘Rascals’ there were predictions made on the lines of ‘This Ajay Devgn-Sanjay Dutt starrer will take one of the top openings of the year’. Reason being, and as predicted in this very column last week, the film was reasonably awaited amongst the audience as well as trade circles but never expected to embark on a record breaking start by any means. Yes, it was always meant to be a safe film but for those claiming it to be a superhit or a blockbuster in the making were sadly mistaken as this David Dhawan film was never pitched as a mega crore money spinner. With his upcoming film FORCE John Abraham is set to return back to action after a gap of eight years. The actor is excited about the film since action has been one of John’s favourite genres.
Talking about his favourite action heroes in Bollywood, John rates Akshay Kumar as the guru of the action genre. John also seems to have forgotten his cold-chemistry with Salman and admits that Sallu is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood currently.
What is interesting is John’s opinion about Bollywood’s other favourite action guy-Ajay Devgn Though Ajay Devgn recently showed his action packed moves in the super successful film SINGHAM , John thinks the actor still does not get his due all the time. Speaking about Ajay Devgn, John says, ‘Ajay Devgn is one of the best action heroes in town. The only problem is that Ajay is an underrated action hero. If you look at his films his action has always been impressive but he has never got the adulation that he deserves.’ More
Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film which was to be titled Son Of Sardar was facing problems with the title as the same was registered with Akshay Kumar, who was reticent to part with it.
Now it seems that the two actors, who have worked together in the past, have sorted the issue amicably when Ajay recently stopped by Akshay’s sets of Rowdy Rathore. If what we hear is anything to go by then the meeting proved fruitful as Akshay more than willingly gave away the title of Son Of Sardar to Ajay.
Confirming this, Ajay says, “I had asked Akshay for the title. The title was extremely close to his heart. It is a very good gesture on Akshay Kumar’s part and I am indebted to him for it. We will start the film in January.” Source
Even though their film has been released, Ajay Devgn is still taking a keen interest in his Singham co-star Kajal Aggarwal’s whereabouts. The B-Town newcomer recently had to leave for Bangkok to shoot for a South flick.
At the last-minute, her assistant could not accompany her due to a personal emergency. This put the actress in a fix, and her trip in a quandary. That’s when Ajay came to her rescue.
Says Kajal, “I had to go to Bangkok to shoot for my South film when suddenly my assistant could not make it due to some urgent work. Once Ajay got to know of this, he very sweetly organised somebody else to travel with me.” More
Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn took everyone by storm with their recent masaledar and dhamakedar venture Singham.
The movie’s magic has not even spared Ajay’s ‘Bol Bachchan’ co-star Abhishek Bachchan. Heard that Jr. B is very much in awe with Devgn’s hefty look in ‘Singham’. The two actors share good rapport while shooting for ‘Bol Bachchan’ and during such bonding time Ajay said to have suggested Abhishek to try and work on his own body.
As a result, Jr. B is now hooked on the image building gyaan given by Ajay and of late is seriously sweating it out in gym. Source
After a long time Ajay Devgn is back in his action avatar with SINGHAM and judging from the promos looks like the action sequences are worth watching out for.
Director Rohit Shetty, himself designed the action for the movie. When Ajay Devgn learnt that there were a great number of stunts lined up for the same, he insisted that he performed all the stunts by himself!
The crew and Rohit even gave Ajay an option to get the stunt done by a professional but our action hero had no doubt in mind whatsoever and was hell-bent to perform for the dangerous action scenes. More
