Kareena Kapoor Khan Refuses To Work In Begum Samru
When Kareena Kapoor became Begum of Pataudi, it made headlines. And now news of her reprising that role in reel life is garnering just as much publicity. The story is that Mrs Khan will soon play a version of herself – she has replaced Rani Mukerji in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s next, based on the dramatic history of Begum Samru. Tigmanshu said some time ago, “The film is set in the 1840s and will be based on a Hindi novel. The story is a different take on Umrao Jaan. The lead actress will be a begum, not a nautch girl. The begum woos four men before falling in love with one of them and that’s where the trouble begins.”
Tigmanshu Dhulia, the director of hit films like Paan Singh Tomar and Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster has come up with a new movie titled Begam Samru. The director tried to rope in Kareena and Rani Mukherjee for the lead role of the movie but got a refusal from both of them. Now the filmmaker has to turn back and look for some new faces.
Tigmanshu said, “I don’t think any of the top actresses in our country would be comfortable with the nudity in Begum Samru. Certainly not any of the A-listers. So it’s best if I sign an international actresss. The role requires a lot of body exposure from its heroine. Rani loved the script but declined because of nudity. Kareena, too, said no for the same reason.”
Since the top notch actresses have refused to do his movie, we wonder whom he is going to rope in now. Think he should try considering Poonam Pandey or Sherlyn Chopra for the same.
